First time visitors
We chose Ayr as my parents brought my Sister and I here many many years ago.
Travelling from London the worst part of the journey was the last few hundred yards as site is not best signposted and directions not exactly clear. Thankfully turning not too much of an issue as college car parks quite spacious 😊
Wardens seen only occasionally but weather may have contributed to this. We were spoken to a couple of times albeit briefly.
Laundry facilities non existent due to the only machine being labelled as out of order for most of our two week+ stay. Thank goodness for local facilities is all I can say. I suspect some, especially those with small children, struggled without on site provision.
Facilities fairly basic but maintained OK. Issues with campers who cannot be bothered leaving things as they would wish to find them worse here than in some other sites we have visited.
Site is OK but, apart from some decorative planting around reception, fairly featureless. Very quiet at night despite close proximity of college buildings etc.
There seems to be a number of trade type vans (as opposed to camper vans) with caravans on site. The vans and solo drivers are off site during the working day, returning at night. One wonders if the club is now resorting to providing work bases, despite selling itself as a provider of leisure facilities?
Not too bad for barking dogs but I do question whether a limit on numbers of dogs needs to be introduced.
Good base for finding our way around Scotland although long journeys necessary to see much, would probably choose a site elsewhere if we come to the wet north again.
All in all a reasonable but not particularly notable stay.
