All round excellent site and one of my favourites
I came back to Ayr for a second time this year having been forced to cut my previous trip short. I was really impressed the first time and my second sojourn here only served to reinforce my liking for the place.
My time here, on this second occasion, was rewarded by some delightful and friendly neighbours and affable, open and sociable people in Ayr generally – not to mention extraordinary weather for the location and time of year.
I managed to see more of Ayr and found some pretty little parts along the river and elsewhere.
I made a bad pitch choice to start with on the corner of the two-way section of the road and adjacent to a very busy service point. This was not the best place to be, but I was able to move to a prime pitch the next morning.
I do like the shrubbery borders between some pitches and the very spacious pitches. Most pitches get lots of sun – just those on the southern edge of the site shaded most of the time by very tall trees.
It is true the site is a bit tired in parts, and would benefit from some expenditure, but there’s no sense spending money if the site is under threat. And, anyway, it really is nothing like as bad as some reviews make out.
This place is a definite favourite of mine being so close to the town, to buses, to trains and, the area being mostly flat, is also great for cycling to Prestwick, Troon and elsewhere! All in all, a great site and I just hope above hope it is not lost to the club because I want to return again!
