1st time out with the caravan since lockdown and glad we chose one of our favourite sites

Chose one of our favourite sites for our first week away with the caravan on 15th July. Great welcome from the ‘new to Ayr’ wardens. Checking in was easy and welcoming. Information pack was provided. The only issues were that the toilet/ shower block ended up closed for the whole week we were there but the wardens had done everything in their power but could not get electricians to attend the fault. We had kind of decided that we would use our own van facilities on this occasion anyway so it didn’t really cause us any issues. Social distancing was pretty well adhered to by other campers and the water / waste disposal and bin areas were regularly cleaned. Being the owners of 2 dogs, in our opinion this site is ideal for this period of uncertainty and social distancing as there are plenty quite spacious dog walks just off site and quite a few country parks within short drives. An easy walk into the town and beach and the few shops we went to had secure processes in place and most folk wore face coverings as per guidelines. I would highly recommend this site for anyone who is a bit nervous about returning to the new normal.

Perfect site

Perfect site just about an hour from our home, we have used for many years and always enjoyed. So glad remaining open as there has been rumours of being turned into a car park. What a mess that would be and meaning more trees cut down and of course no revenue for the club or town. Some people say toilets need upgraded, no they don't, they are perfectly clean and suitable for use. If you think otherwise then use facilities in your own caravan or Transit. Road in now repaired makes such a difference. Thanks to wardens for last 5 years and our best wishes at New England Bay, you have done a great job at Craigie and trust those coming next will do same. looking forward to returning next year.

Great site

Years since I’ve been here. Warm welcome and everything explained by lady warden. Very established site with a lovely coziness to it. Felt like home. Beautiful flower tubs around. Lots of cycling walking around the area. Will go back.

Short Stay!

Stopped for 2 nights whilst on short tour of Scotland. Unique location very quiet and tranquil yet close to Ayr town and also lovely walks with dog along the riverside walk away from Ayr. Wardens very friendly and helpful and site well maintained and laid out. No dog walk on site is not a problem as right outside entrance is wooded and grasses area well lit at night and dog bins provided. Well worth a visit to this site.

Great site, friendly staff, close to city centre!

The site was lovely. We arrived to find the site well maintained with beautiful flowers in full bloom. The staff were excellent. It was my first time on a cc site and I explained this. They went out their way to ensure my stay was good. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay. I had no issues. The facilities were immaculate and you could see they were kept very very clean. The facilities are slightly dated and to some people they would probably say they should upgrade them. In my opinion yes it would be a nice to have but not a necessity. They are immaculate and well kept. A must visit and we shall return. Many thanks to the staff for ensuring we had an enjoyable and peaceful stay.

Perfect Site Just as it is

Arrived for a 1 night stop over & stayed for 4 nights whilst touring the area. Fabulously Friendly Wardens, Spotlessly Clean Facilities - Why DO They Need Updating ?? The moaners should stay at home as they are not Campers - We would rather the Pitch Fees Reduced than waste club money on 5" Facilities for a quick wash & brush up.to appease those who sit in their Vans All Day Watching TV! We managed to avoid the entrance pot holes but by day 4 they have been repaired & all is good. Very peaceful, Perfectly placed for exploring - a real Jewel in the Crown of club sites, Fingers X the site has a secure future. Thanks for an Enjoyable Stay

Scottish road trip

We stayed on this site for 2 nights on our way to the highlands, we also have friends here . The site is fabulous, peaceful and a great location, a great walk along the river. I loved having the grass in between each pitch and lots it trees, fabulous.

All round excellent site and one of my favourites

I came back to Ayr for a second time this year having been forced to cut my previous trip short. I was really impressed the first time and my second sojourn here only served to reinforce my liking for the place.

My time here, on this second occasion, was rewarded by some delightful and friendly neighbours and affable, open and sociable people in Ayr generally – not to mention extraordinary weather for the location and time of year.

I managed to see more of Ayr and found some pretty little parts along the river and elsewhere.

I made a bad pitch choice to start with on the corner of the two-way section of the road and adjacent to a very busy service point. This was not the best place to be, but I was able to move to a prime pitch the next morning.

I do like the shrubbery borders between some pitches and the very spacious pitches. Most pitches get lots of sun – just those on the southern edge of the site shaded most of the time by very tall trees.

It is true the site is a bit tired in parts, and would benefit from some expenditure, but there’s no sense spending money if the site is under threat. And, anyway, it really is nothing like as bad as some reviews make out.

This place is a definite favourite of mine being so close to the town, to buses, to trains and, the area being mostly flat, is also great for cycling to Prestwick, Troon and elsewhere! All in all, a great site and I just hope above hope it is not lost to the club because I want to return again!

A lovely break

We stayed here for a few days at the start of our Scotland expedition. What a lovely site, yes it does need an upgrade and no I don’t know the reason why it hasn’t, however the wardens work extremely hard to keep up standards and their floral displays are a credit to them. A good central site with many interesting locations to visit within a few miles. If it’s still there next year we will return.

Mature Couple

Spent a very pleasant 2 nights here before catching the ferry to Arran. Site was easy to find, wardens very friendly and helpful. We were in a quiet corner - very good. Only quibble was the very rough tarmac at the entrance to the site. We understand that there is doubt over the site's future, but surely to put a little tarmac at the entrance would not be a waste of money.
