A charming little site.
We stayed here for 3 nights at the start of a tour of the South East. This was our first visit and we found it to be a charming little site on the edge of the equally charming village of Ashwell. The site is well maintained and although there is a large storage compound attached we didn’t find that to be intrusive or to detract from the overall ambience. We received a friendly welcome from the lady warden though I have to agree with the earlier reviewer who found her husband to be rather less so. Corvid restrictions were in place and well detailed although we used our own facilities rather than the toilet/shower block.
A word of general warning, I had to brining the 12.5% discount due from The price booked at the beginning of July to the attention of the warden who thought it had already been deducted. It hadn’t! I have encountered the same problem at our next site at Bearsted. At both site wardens admitted that they may have omitted to deduct this from other members site fees. Members beware!!
Overall a very nice site, small, neat and quiet.
