We have just spent 7 nights at Altnaharra, which was perfect , so peaceful , most fantastic scenery, waiting for the deer to come off the hills and graze near the campsite most nights - a stunning sight . It would be easy to be put off by its location, remoteness, but don’t .The single track roads are so easy to navigate with frequent passing places, such a lovely drive , so so scenic , a delight . We took 12 bottles of water with us to drink , but to be fair , the water was fine, having been filtered through the sites system , a little peaty coloured , but once boiled , no problem to drink . We made sure we were well stocked up with provisions to last us for the 7 days - but if we ran out of anything , then at worst , it’s an extremely pleasant 20 mile drive to either Lairg or Tongue for the nearest shop . Phil & Chris ( the wardens ) , we’re super friendly, very knowledgeable and very helpful when needed , they kept the site immaculate in a rustic kind of way . On the whole , it was a very magical experience for the 7 days , and one that we are so pleased that we didn’t miss , so different from other club sites . It gave us a chance to sample the most amazing scenery, enjoy the peace and quiet , and view the amazing wild life , that Altnaharra offers . Thank you to the Caravan & Motorhome Club for allowing us this experience.
