In the middle of nowhere, literally!
This site has had a lot of positive publicity over the last few months so I thought Id give it a try. Its quite a trek so be sure you really want to go before you book. You might have spotted my reservation? Small site, no toilets but not really an issue for modern units. About half the pitches have hook up the rest not, again not a huge problem. But what is the attraction? The obvious is the peacefulness and tranquility of it but its not really the most picturesque part of Scotland as the hills are quite barren. I know this a I am Scottish and I've visited a number of sites and locations in the past. The loch is of course beautiful to look at. The wardens are very friendly and helpful. the nearest shops are a good 40-50 mile round trip away so make sure you have plenty of provisions especially if in a Motorhome (& not towing a car!). Now I have been on a quest to find good sites with great facilities and good dog walks and facilities aside you would have thought that this site/area would be great for dog walks but its not. There is one across the road from the site and you can't let your dog off due to the sheep. Where else is there? There isn't unless you drive somewhere which kind of defeats the point. You can of course walk along the single track road in either direction and take in the views but again you have to keep your dog on the lead all the time as there is quite a lot of traffic during the day and of course the "motorbikes". Bzzzzzzzzzzzz!
