Beguiling

Perfectly described by the CC including the distance to the supermarkets! Pitch prices are no longer cheaper if you choose an economy pitch like us although we did get a stunning view.  Three days of wind and rain, and a glorious fourth with an unbelievable sunset. Deer wander down from the hills in the evening whilst sheep and their lambs mingle with the economy pitches during the later evening and early mornings [wardens clean up the muck]. Great walks - beware of going on the hills because the weather changes quickly and the paths can be boggy - with stunning views. Even walks along the road by the loch are worthwhile as the scenery changes with the weather. We went for a walk along the loch at 10pm in daylight for an hour or so. The Strathaven trail is worth following for an insight into the Clearances. Bird life abundant - two twitchers say they spotted 63 different species. We managed 12 and we're not twitchers. Wardens in a class of their own for being personable. They charge up batteries if needed, sell gas and other basic items. Access is by following roads with passing places but we found these easier than some of the main roads! Avoid the midge season. Quite simply, we were overwhelmed by this site.
