Lovely peaceful site

We had never thought of staying at Alderstead Heath before because being inside the M25 we imagined it to be noisy, built up and generally urban - we could not have been more wrong! The site is in the middle of the countryside, there is no sign of the motorways or the proximity to London at all. It's very peaceful and extremely quiet round about. The site itself is very big but well laid out so that you don't feel as though you're on a large site. The wardens are super friendly and very welcoming indeed. I made a wrong turn on the way in and had to phone for directions and they saved the day with their local knowledge of bushes, gateways and forks in the road to help me find my way. One thing, DO NOT turn off the A23 by Starbucks! I adhered to the directions in the book about not using sat nav, however I assumed this was because you had to drive up the A23 and make a U turn using a roundabout instead of cutting across a dual carriageway, so once I'd gone round the roundabout I followed the sat nav, turned up by Starbucks and instantly found myself on a single track lane with low overhanging trees! The correct and much safer way in is to continue further down the A23 (taking the right hand slip in the road at the junction with the M23) and turn left by the pub that's now an Indian restaurant.

The toilet block was spotless, even though it is one of the older type it didn't matter one bit, it was superbly warm and the showers are really powerful. Overall we were very impressed and hope to come back very soon - following the proper directions this time!
