Good for families

A great site but expensive for Motorhomes

This is a great site in many, many respects - most of which are contained in the other reviews - including proximity to Abbey Wood train station which gives easy transport to central London. There is also an excellent and very nearby bus service into other places including Greenwich. There is a super café in the village just before the train station which specialises in cooked breakfast food - all day. There are lots of other good local shops between the café and the station catering for most needs. The site was very tidy and the showers/toilets were very good indeed. A lovely wooded setting with large pitches so there is plenty of space between all units. Whilst the pitch charges are fine - BE WARNED OF THE EMISSION CHARGES which no one has mentioned as far as I can see. Namely for a 3.5 kg motor home there is a £100 emission charge for EACH day of driving in the Zone which is where this site is situated. That means paying £100 to get into the site and another £100 to get out on a different day ! Actually in my case the matter was even worse as our motor home is 4 kgs and for which the charge was £200 for the day of arrival and another £200 for the day of departure. IN ADDITION there is the small matter of having to pay a £14 CONGESTION CHARGE fore each of the two days which made a grand EXTRA total of £428 on top of the site charges. We are convinced that there are many visitors who are blissfully unaware of these charges until they receive penalty notices which are crippling - take a look at this: https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/low-emission-zone/penalty-charges Otherwise we had a great stay !

Response from the Club:

Hi there, thanks so much for taking the time to leave your review, it sounds like you had a great time on site. You're right, the site is within the London Low Emission Zone, so we advise anyone travelling to the site to visit http://www.tfl.gov.uk/lezlondon for more information. We hope to see you on site again soon.
