We stayed on this site in July to enjoy the proximity to London and for the warmth and friendliness of the Wardens. We have stayed on this site previously, and as usual the facilities and grounds were beautifully kept. Unfortunately on this visit my husband was rushed into A & E in the early hours with acute abdominal pain. I rang the site from the hospital to explain the situation and was greatly assured by their genuine concern, and was told that I should have woken them regardless of the lateness of the hour, and they explained that they would have opened the gates to allow access to the ambulance. I would like to express my thanks, especially to Karen who showed great concern and kindness over the following days as my husband recuperated on site. She also came several times to check that we were okay and asked if we needed anything. Her warmth and concern helped to make a very worrying situation easier to deal with, and for that we were both very grateful. We will be back!
Stayed for 6 nights with my wife and two dogs.
I was a bit daunted at first about towing my caravan through London to this site but having spent a bit of time doing research beforehand, settled on approaching from Junction 1A at the A282 just before the Dartford Crossing then the A206, A2016 then onto the A2041 to Federation Road which worked out grand. Plenty of roundabouts but good wide roads, would take that route again.
Check in was great, we were seen to promptly by the friendly wardens who explained everything we needed to know.
Got set up and the absolute gem here was it's only a 10 minute walk to Abbey Wood Station on the Elizabeth Line. Purchased our Oyster Cards and spent the rest of the week exploring London by tube, my car didn't move and didn't need to move, it's so handy getting about.
Facilities here are great, plenty of toilets / showers which are well maintained. Grounds well maintained and peaceful.
All in all a super clubsite, we will be back and in fact we have already booked a return stay for next year!
Highly recommended, 10/10!
We've stayed here several times since 2021. The location for getting into central London is brilliant. This is because it's only a short walk to the station from which you can take the Elizabeth Line and be at Tottenham Court Road in 20 minutes. The trains are frequent, fast and comfortable with air conditioning.
Having said all that about getting away from the site, it is delightful. It's set on the edge of a residential area bordering ancient woodlands. I've recently stayed a week on my own and walked back each evening...never feeling unsafe or worried. I think the area is really nice.
The pitches are well spaced and generally flat and the trees make it feel as though you're in the countryside. The occasional siren or loud motorcycle disturbs that illusion...but those are rare. The site is usually very peaceful. Of course there are families staying and there's a little playground in the centre but the joyful laughter of children is a pleasure to hear so although we don't have children with us, we're very happy to recommend the site to oldies like us. Of course if you have little ones, it's an excellent site for you.
The toilets and showers are good. In places they're getting a little tatty, for example there were some small rust stains on the floor in my nearest block between the shower cubicles. There's a bit of mildew here and there, but that can't be avoided and I'd say they are kept very clean. Bins are emptied regularly and the facilities generally are really well maintained.
Staff are always very kind and helpful. We've stayed here on about 8 separate occasions and staff have always been excellent. There's clearly a very good team culture here. Even the flower pots outside reception are beautifully maintained. People are kind and patient. They take time when checking in to explain the site and provide advice about the naughty foxes and squirrels.....which are regular visitors and something to be aware of.
Overall an excellent site which I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
I have been coming to Abbey Wood for a number of years and love each visit.
It is a little haven of tranquillity ( apart from the odd siren) and you are surrounded by lots of large trees, great if you prefer shelter- although there are plenty of sunnier plots.
The staff here are so friendly are really helpful and the site is well looked after.
You could come here if you wanted some R&R or wanted to venture out.
As other reviews have said , the Elizabeth line is only10 minutes walk away with direct lines to all the major sights and shopping areas of London town. My last visit, I went to BST at Hyde park - et some friends there and walked back from the tube to the site myself - felt perfectly safe. The only thing that made me jump was a fox that darted from behind a car to avoid me !!
If you need to top up with provision, there is a good size Sainsbury located a couple of minutes walk behind the Tube station.
This certainly will not be my last visit to this site.
Highly recommend staying here, pitches are generally light and slightly sloping, staff are very friendly and helpful. The site is very well looked after and facilities are as you would expect.
Its only max 10minutes walk to the Elizabeth line station meaning that the hustle and bustle of Tottenham Court Road is only 35mins away and from there its a short walk to Covent Garden or Oxford Street etc.
We spent a week and managed Wimbledon, the Theatre, museums and evenings out.
So convenient for London and such a good price. Good facilities, welcoming staff and around 35 minutes total to centre of London using the Elizabeth Line. A very well run site.
The site is in a wooded, slightly hilly area which has very good size pitches and lots of space. It is lovely inasmuch as it isn't regulated in lines like to many site and you have a feeling of being the countryside. Easy walk to Elizabeth line through area that has shops for anything forgotten and a pub as well. Various eateries too. Station has lift if you can't manage the stairs (of which there are quite a few) and trains into London every 4 minutes at peak times and 7 minutes other times.
We stay here as such good value and what we save on accommodation we spend on going to shows and attractions and eating out.
What a find! Fab location, super friendly staff, relaxed and so peaceful at night. The grounds are just lovely, facilities very clean. The setting is just unbelievable considering how close to London the campsite is. Abbey Wood station just 10 mins walk from site.
Perfect for any visit to the capital. We will defiantly be visiting again!
Thank you for making our weekend even better!
This is the second time we have stayed at this campsite. We chose it because of it's location - we have family in London and the Elizabeth line makes visiting them so easy. Apart from that, the staff are so friendly and helpful and the site is beautifully kept. The wildlife was exciting too - woodpeckers, squirrels, foxes and parakeets! Great stay.
Fabulously located site; 10 mins walk to Abbey Wood Elizabeth Line Tube Station (20 mins into Central London). Also, overground rail service from same location.
The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. They were also very accommodating when, as we enjoyed ourselves so much, we decided to stay another, extra night.
The site is in a pleasant, green oasis and, you would never guess you are inLondon. Constant birdsong, plenty of squirrels and, the odd fox.
All the facilities were very clean; plenty of individual showers and washrooms with constant hot water and, plenty of loos. Nice facilities to wash dishes and, a laundry if needed.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Abbey Wood and will definitely return if the need arises.
Thank you to all the staff for being so welcoming. 🥰
