Great site, views and so friendly

Recently stayed here and nothing but praise. Both hard and grass standings and was lovely being around a working farm. Couldn’t hear anything though which was good. Lovely views over the lowther estate. The family who owned / worked the farm were really friendly. Being elevated over lowther holiday park meant could hear Kendal calling so a free music festival as a bonus! Would definitely use the Lowther Park Drive and veer off to the right rather than the designated route which isn’t ideal. Overall great break and 100% coming back!

Good site and good value

A mixture of grass and hardstanding pitches on a friendly and well maintained diary farm site. This site is well placed for easy access to Ullswater, Penrith and Lowther. You are within easy walking distance of the nearby Lowther Caravan Park with both a pub and a camp shop open to non residents and the village of Yanwath's pub is only around 25 minutes away on foot. Very friendly owner and farming family. Clean loo. All for a £10 per night : bargain!

Really splendid site

Yanwath Woodhouse is a splendid site with lovely walks and fine views of the Westmorland Hills and forests. This CL is on part of the Lowther Castle Estate with the River Lowther flowing nearby. Penrith is only two or three miles away with lots of supermarkets, shops, pubs and restaurants. Calor Gas is available at the holiday park just down the hill at a reasonable price. Ullswater is about five or six miles drive from the CL down the lanes beyond Pooley Bridge. The farmer at Yanwath Woodhouse is as friendly and helpful as you will ever find and sells free range eggs at the farm. The electricity supply is very good with no problems at all, the drinking water is of the best quality and the waste services are really well placed. Other reviews have mentioned the field being wet. As a northerner I can say that rain is not a phenomenon in these parts and Algiers is the place for people who are not keen on it. This CL is ideal for visiting the north lakes and a great stopover for people travelling to Scotland due to being immediately off the A6 and only five or six minutes off the M6 and with no narrow lanes or hedges to scratch the van. We have visited the site three times now and it is one of our favourites to which we will be returning.

Nice Bank Holiday stay

Had a nice Bank Holiday weekend at this CL. Plenty of room between caravans & not disturbed by farm noise. A nice toilet is provided & waste disposal is well built. As mentioned by others, use the lowther park access road & not the long & bumpy farm track. Thank you for a pleasant stay & look forward to returning.

HAD BE TOW OUT BY A TRACTOR

Arrived buy i was not able to find any one on the farm so i saw 2 places of hardstanding but they has a persons name on them so i assumed they were taken so i drove onto the grass about 6 feet and sunk upto my front axle, after about 30 mins the farmer arrived and pulled me out, this did make a big mess on the grass plot, he told me they had heavy rain for 4 days, so why was this not fenced off? tv..very good signal clean water drive over water waste..sorry no way possible would i still stay here again, yes but not in winter months

Convinient Stopover

Stayed here for one night as a stopover before travelling to Stirling, great peaceful site, just what was needed. The access via Lowther Park is great. Will definitely use again.

caravaners who love travelling .

Myself and my partner had a lovely time at Yanworth the access through Lowther Holiday park was so pleasant and much easier with the caravan, the site was kept lovely and the toilet was kept clean and fresh. We would like to thank Mr Fisher for letting us stay on his site and would defiantly go again , the trip into Keswick was straight forward and enjoyed our days out we defiantly recommend this site to anyone. Could be a gem but..............

The site itself is nice but the electric supply needs looking at. 2 x 4 socket electric posts. One at top end of field means that 4 vans are all squashed in one corner.Did not expect large frame tents on site as these were not listed as accepted. 8 units on the Saturday night but one did leave. One person admitted to not being a member at all.

easier access road

Just a note to say that the directions given on this webpage are no longer accurate. It is now possible to access the site via the entrance drive to the Lowther Holiday Park commercial site. Take A6 south from A66 though Eamont Bridge and straight on at mini-roundabout. In 200 metres (or so) take right hand turn into Lowther Park site. After viaduct fork right uphill to farm (tarmac road all the way - far better than the long dusty farm track).

Quiet site

Lovely quiet site, owner helpful and friendly.  Site on slight slope so we needed leveling blocks. Spacious pitches, recycling facilities available. Field for walking dogs in. Site next door has a well stocked shop. Enjoyed a week here and would recommended.
