Can hear a pin drop
We've just returned from a long weekend, absolute bliss!
Owners very friendly and welcoming and leave you to it once they've checked your ok but are there if you need them. Directions good. Don't do as we did and opt for a possible short cut - some very narrow lanes with steep inclines.
Site on an a gradual incline so need blocks. double EHU's at 2 points around field. Fresh water point situated in among the hedgerow, took us a while to find it. Waste and rubbish on opposite side of field. Only one recycling box so we took ours back home with us as we didn't want to overflow the box there.
The peace and tranquility is idyllic and the scenery well you couldn't get bored looking at the scenery - stunning. The only noise you hear is that of the occasional cow mo-ing, sheep ba-ing and in the distance the occasional sound of a tractor or combine. Literally we could just hear the sheep and birds and at one point it was that quiet we could hear the farmers cows chomping on the grass - can't get more quiet than that!
Lovely meal at the pub about a mile away - Royal Oak. Saturday nights we were told you need to pre-book as they get full and there are only four tables outside in the small cobbled courtyard - luckily it was a lovely summers evening so we were able to eat outside. Food is very good and a testament if in the middle of nowhere it's full.
Nearest shops of any kind are in Church Stretton which is 6.5 miles away on a pleasant weaving B road with lots of stunning scenery.
This is a really beautiful part of the country, it surprised us as we weren't expecting it to be so green and under developed.
oh and we had the added bonus of the Red Arrows flying low and slow over us on the Sunday perhaps on their way to a show and then low and behold they returned on Monday to give us a repeat performance on their way home! We also saw two aerobatic by-planes on their way somewhere and they gave an impromptu barrel roll and loop - this happened both days too.
We hope to return and plan to stay longer next time to enjoy the full beauty of the surrounding area. Thank you Mr / s Evans for a lovely stay.
