Follow the directions in the book or the handy map we were sent and it is really easy to find. We received a warm welcome and the site layout explained to us. Electricity is metered, which we think is sensible, although you get 10 units in your pitch fee. We didnt go anywhere near that.
Good sized grass pitches, well mown and separated by shrubs which was nice. The site is surrounded by tall hedges and trees so although no views it is well sheltered. Lots of butterflies when we were there. Plenty of boards around to put under your wheels if the weather is a bit wet. You will be visited by chickens and the goose, and the cat!
The road is a bit noisy during the day, although it didnt concern us, and it is quiet at night.
We caught the bus at the end of the road into Wisbech one day and had a good look round - museum and georgian houses both in the town and along the river. Not all the buses on the bus route return past the site so we got a taxi back. We also visited the nice farm shop and cafe just down the road.
Had 4 great nights at Windrush. First time to this area, we cycled from the site every day on fabulous quiet lanes. The site is well laid out, plenty of room and wonderful plants. Great recycling and loved the compost bin for peelings etc.Very peaceful site and relaxing, the hens appear late afternoon and be aware if you are using a low bbq they are very quick and pinching food!!!!!!good value and fully approve of the electric meters, 10 units a day is very generous, we only used 4 a day and most of that would have been the fridge as it was very warm.
We have just returned from having 4 nights at this amazingly well kept CL owned by the really nice & helpful Linda & Keith.
The site is situated at the rear of their house and the pitches are all seperated by bushes and are completely level on well kept grass lawn .. The pictures of the site do not do it justice as the trees have grown more, making it even more special and private.
Amazingly we were the only Caravan on site but we soon made friends with the cat, 5 chickens and a Goose who regularly visited us.
Only a 2 mile walk into Wisbech or access by bus from the nearby village. Great value site and highly recommended, we will be returning in the future!!
Just had a 4 night stay at Windrush. Communication with Linda regarding the booking was great. We were met at the gate and welcomed by Keith. Beautiful little site. Well manicured and level grass, bordered between each pitch with bushes and young apple trees. Lovely peaceful stay. Managed a few off lead walks with our dogs on the local lanes. Visited The Potting Shed for drinks and also The Rising Sun in Leverington. Would need transport though to explore more of the area. Definite little gem of a site.
Our second time staying at Windrush CL. Warm welcome by owner. Stayed first time at Easter 2019 and woke on Easter Sunday to an chocolate Easter bunny left on our car.! Very nice touch. Well spaced pitches on neatly cut lawn.
Sayed here with friends at the end of September, one of four sites on a months tour of England. Easy booking with Linda and Keith was there to open the gate when we arrived. Easy to find if you follow instructions rather than sat nav. We were there during the week of the fuel crisis and the weather was not the best. Grass was well kept and well drained as we had a lot of rain. Visited Woodmans Cottage at Gorefield for excellent meals while we were there, about a mile away, walking distance as there is a footpath all the way.
A fairly last minute booking following a traumatic week, & Windrush most certainly did not disappoint
Easy communications from Linda, the directions were spot on & the site was immaculate on arrival. Keith was welcoming & nothing was too much trouble.
Our granddaughter visited and very much enjoyed everything from the chickens to the outdoor games provided by our hosts - Thank you.
With family in the area, we will not hesitate to book again
This is an excellent well laid out site and the owner are very nice people even after my mixed up with the dates and we hope to be back soon. I would like thank you for all your help and look forward to seeing again soon.
Lovely quiet and attractive site
Very well kept and friendly owners Linda and Keith
Make you feel relaxed and very welcoming
Facilities are great and a very informative garden hut with even a book exchange scheme and children garden games to use should you have younger children
Would definitely return
Thanks again
