A Special Place

Wow where do you start, the welcome was fantastic, the view stunning and sound of the river in the wooded valley behind the site just beautiful. Good clean facilities on a very rural working farm site with a fantastic pub/restaurant in the village of Lealholm within easy walking distance.

Wonderful welcome and beautiful site.

One night stay in motorhome but would definitely visit again. Very welcoming allowing us to arrive earlier in the day when we called to ask and as they had space agreed willingly. Recycling. We didn't make use of other facilities as self contained. Fantastic 6.5m circular walk along the river, up through Glaisdale and back over the moors. Popular, quite full when we visited but not crowded.

Great campsite, Great location

Just spent 2 nights at Wild Slack Farm; peaceful, relaxed, small campsite, with a warm & friendly welcome from Martin & his family. Great location in the North York Moors National Park, easy walk into Lealholm village. Facilities are simple, clean and well looked after. We bought the farm's sausages & pork loin chops - both delicious.

We got to return....

We have been longing to return to this lovely CL and after 4 years we returned. It was as good as ever. Spacious pitches, great views, and clean facilities. Martin and Andrea are the perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble, they always have time to talk. It is a very special place for me, my Grandmother was born here in the late 1800's, her father was my Great Grandfather, it is his initials that are over the stable door..HSB.....Henry S Beeforth. Martin was always happy to chat to me about my ancestors and gave me and my sister a lot of information. It is quite a journey for us, if we were nearer a would come here more often. You wont be dissapointed with this great farm site and of course the village of Lealholm is idyllic.... Thank you Martin and Andrea for your hospitality, I hope we get back up to you in the not too distant future.....

Amazing farm based site!

We stayed at this site in June 2019 during a period of very changeable weather. We were in the smaller CL field which is handily tiered so everyone gets a nice view over the valleys and moors. The pitches are very generous but make sure you have your full 25m hookup cable as one is quite far from the bollard. The facilities are clean and simple with a good electric shower which must be paid for by tokens, 6 minutes is plenty of time (we showered 2 small children and an adult in that time! Top tip - the "top shower" in the smaller hut is a lot more powerful! The site itself is on a farm and the kids loved feeding scraps to the pigs - we all enjoyed the sausages and pork burgers from the pigs too which Martin sells - so much so we came away with a freezer full! Martin is great and even took us up to his Son's farm where my kids got to play with the pet lambs and see the Lamas. The site is about .7 of a mile to Lealholme which is a great village - it has a friendly pub and a good shop which sells some nice food (try the black pudding and the cheese) - just be aware the shop is cash only but you can withdraw cash at the post office opposite. There are some fantastic walks to be had just off the site, we spend a good couple of days walking across moorland, along the river and everything inbetween. Whitby is easily accessible with the main road being about 10 minutes drive away (albeit on some challenging roads!) This site will be a new favourite for sure and we look forward to coming back

Short break

Gem of a site, if you like countryside and animals this is the place for you. Very peaceful, shower and 2 toilets; shower lasts 6 minutes just enough time. Owners very helpful and friendly. Lealhome a pretty village with good tearoom and village shop. Near to coast. Loved it so much stayed extra night.

A gem

After a very friendly welcome by Mr. Foord we were delighted with the peace and tranquility of this lovey site with outstanding views of the Esk Valley. The facilities are clean and tidy and in great codition. I would recommend this site to all and well worth the extra detour to avoid Sutton Bank. We will be back in the new year.

Once more and just as good and friendly

We visited Martin and his farm once again and once again it was the food of life. The weather was very kind, the best bank holiday in early May on record. we stayed on site for 3 days, ate of the barbie each day. strolled around the countryside now and again, and in between basked in the glorious sunshine. Martin was his usual helpful self. this site is so good we will keep on visiting again and again.Thank you Martin and family for another lovely holiday. From Ian

Friendly farm

We nearly got caught trying to approach this site via the Sutton Bank road. I phoned Martin, and he gave very clear directions. (From Thirsk, take the A19 signed teesdale, and head towards Stokesley and Guisborough.) This set the tenor of the visit. Martin reversed our van for us with his 4x4 when our car couldn't cope, and helped us level. He also pulled us off at the end. The whole family were very friendly and helpful. Martin always seemed to pop up when you needed him! The roads in and out of the site were quite steep, but this did not prove a problem when towing. There are lovely views from this site, and we enjoyed the cows, geese, pigs, and ducks on the pond. You can buy delicious pork from the farm, plus eggs. There are two toilets and two showers plus washing machine and drier, housed in two pleasingly rustic but clean stone outhouses. You need tokens for showers (£1=5 mins), and washing/drying (£6=1 hour's use). The site has good access to Whitby, the coast, lovely villages in north yorks moors. York 1 hour 20 mins away (Park and Ride). Plenty of cycling and running up hill and down dale, and visiting historic sites if this your bag. We loved it, and were truly sorry to leave.

Stunning scenery

We booked 3 nights and stayed for 4! Excellent walks, train to Whitby and a community bus to get you home. Martin is friendly and helpful, the views are great and the garden centre in the village is definitely worth a visit.
