A very good base for exploring Pembrokeshire

An excellent base for touring the surrounding area. 10 minutes drive and you have a plethora of supermarkets and shopping in Haverfordwest, ideal when you forgot the milk, and Tesco have the cheapest fuel for miles around (even cheaper than at home. Broad Haven beach is less than 10 minutes away and is a glorious place to watch the sunset from with and easy drive back to sight. St Davids (the smallest city) is just under 30 minutes drive with the historic cathedral and we can recommend the wildlife boat trips around Ramsey Island (use the 1000 island boats as they are the only ones allowed to land on Ramsey which is an RSPB reserve. The amazing Pembroke Castle is quite close and well worth a visit. The site itself is well laid out with very easy access even for long units with plenty of space for both awning and car. The dog walk area is one of the best and nice for the early morning stroll even without a dog but beware of the boggy bit at the bottom if your pooch likes mud. The pitches stay dry in even the wettest weather with none of the puddles forming under the awning that have been such a pain on otherwise lovely sites. High banks on two sides offer protection from any high winds while still offering good vistas. A CL with a toilet is always a bonus to reduce the emptying duties and this one was always clean. (accessed through the information area) The information is well stocked with leaflets about the area and books both fictional and factual. This has fast become our destination of choice for the West Pembroke area.
