A very good base for exploring Pembrokeshire

An excellent base for touring the surrounding area. 10 minutes drive and you have a plethora of supermarkets and shopping in Haverfordwest, ideal when you forgot the milk, and Tesco have the cheapest fuel for miles around (even cheaper than at home. Broad Haven beach is less than 10 minutes away and is a glorious place to watch the sunset from with and easy drive back to sight. St Davids (the smallest city) is just under 30 minutes drive with the historic cathedral and we can recommend the wildlife boat trips around Ramsey Island (use the 1000 island boats as they are the only ones allowed to land on Ramsey which is an RSPB reserve. The amazing Pembroke Castle is quite close and well worth a visit. The site itself is well laid out with very easy access even for long units with plenty of space for both awning and car. The dog walk area is one of the best and nice for the early morning stroll even without a dog but beware of the boggy bit at the bottom if your pooch likes mud. The pitches stay dry in even the wettest weather with none of the puddles forming under the awning that have been such a pain on otherwise lovely sites. High banks on two sides offer protection from any high winds while still offering good vistas. A CL with a toilet is always a bonus to reduce the emptying duties and this one was always clean. (accessed through the information area) The information is well stocked with leaflets about the area and books both fictional and factual. This has fast become our destination of choice for the West Pembroke area.

June 2014

Lovely location for the site it was very peaceful and close to lots of beaches and castles. Only down side was the cleanliness of the toilet. It had not seen a mop for a long time. I had to clean the toilet before I used it. Had to supply my own toilet roll for general use. Such a shame as the site was perfect otherwise.

Excellent !

Perfectly placed for nowhere, ideally placed for everywhere ! Drive to a bus route and catch a bus to walk back, we managed Whitesands to Martins Haven over 4 days. Magnificent scenery all along the coastal footpath. Haverfordwest is close by to stock up on provisions with 4 major supermarkets so you don't need to bring much with you either. Superb CL, all hardstandings but you can pitch your awning on grass if you really feel the need and are prepared to care for the grass. Superb information room with the loan of maps and walking books available to all. Outstanding value with a special weekly rate even more so. Be warned though, we tried to stay longer than our week's booking and couldn't as it was fully booked. Not surprising really !

Excellent site

Have just stayed for 16 nights on this CL. No Wellies or 4 x 4s needed here! Well laid out with hard standings and grass for awnings and siting out. Maps, books etc available. Clean and organised facilities. Great value . Jan and Ken very friendly hosts and accommodating. Den and Trish

Oct 2012 visit

Stayed here at the start of October 2012. Great central location for Pembroke coast path walking. Individual hard standing pitches so its as good as it gets. Great hosts and we are about to book again. Best trip - boat trip to Skomer Island - great walk around the island and new born seal pups.
