Ease of arrival/welcome

Outstanding CL - stunning view and friendly welcome

What a View certainly deserves its name - the wide vista across Blackmore Vale is inspiring and fascinating, trying to work out which towns and villages can be seen. The location facing almost due west meant that for our week of glorious weather we had stunning sunsets every day. We felt very welcome, as Terri came to see us on arrival and twice more to check all was ok and to have a friendly chat. An innovation for this CL stay was the use of electricity meters which required £1 or £2 coins to be inserted, which Terri had explained before we arrived were a response to steeply rising costs. Because I booked before their installation, we were given coins at £2 per day. Having to check the meters regularly made us realise how much energy our appliances were using, and an extra task with this type of meter is having to check constantly that users are collecting a stock of coins, which are far less used in daily life now. The location of the CL is wonderful - Sturminster Newton is a very likeable small town - I enjoyed visiting the historic mill, and my wife was very impressed with Harts of Stur - while Sherborne and Shaftesbury are delightful towns. The proximity of the North Dorset Trailway was the first reason I chose this location, and we had a wonderful day cycling the 9 miles to Blandford, another attractive town, and visiting the restored Shillingstone station. As well as the Trailway, the many lovely local villages are accessible on quiet lanes. Kingston Lacy also made a very enjoyable day trip.

Dear David,

Thank you for your lovely review and feedback.  It is so great for other CL users to be able to read what's in the area and have suggestions on what to do locally.  We look forward to welcoming you back one day.

Regards,

Terri
