Fantastic CL in close proximity to Winchester

Recently we enjoyed a "Family Rally" of three units at this delightful CL where we received a warm welcome from the Owners upon arrival who sited us and explained fully the amenities. Provided that you follow the instructions within the Sites Directory and do not use Sat Nav, the site is easy to find. Access to this CL located behind the Owner's home is via an adequate driveway (that provided no issues for our twin axle Swift Conqueror) which leads onto an amazingly level beautifully maintained lawned CL with wooden barriers that mark out each individual pitch. The grass is well maintained and thankfully grass cuttings are collected, so avoiding it being trampled into the caravan. Adjoining the CL are fields in which has a donkey - and in the distance one evening we spotted several deer. The CL is very tranquil apart from the occasional aircraft flying overhead. The amenities for drinking water, waste water disposal and emptying the toilet cassette are undercover to a high standard but rather further away from our camping units than we would have preferred. Within about 15 minutes walk is The Fisherman's Pond Pub where we enjoyed an excellent meal. Other places of interest are located within easy travelling distance and include Winchester, Fareham, Southampton and the Royal Victoria Country Park in Netley, Hampshire, England, by the shores of Southampton Water which is well worth a day's visit. No issues at all with TV reception or electrics at all. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this CL.

Lovely site

We live fairly local, but after purchasing our new van we wanted 3 nights to try it out and ensure all was well! And truth be told, once on site we could of been anywhere. Lovely view of the field and set well back from the road. After a bit of a nightmare getting on site(no fault of owners, we approached from the wrong direction), we were given a lovely warm welcome and our dog too. The site is level and well looked after. The grass was a little soft, but there had been some very heavy rain. Pitches of a lovely size. Facilities for water and waste are clean and under cover. The resident pony is a character. Valerie and Barry were extremely accommodating when we needed to return to site after midnight. Local shop just up the road as is the pub. And great links to Winchester, Southampton and Portsmouth. So glad we found this little gem. We definitely be returning.

Another pleasant weekend

This was our second visit to this wonderful site, nothing has changed, still immaculate in every way. I would definitely recommend this site to fellow members. Warm welcome, good chat with the owners. Good level pitches, wake up to bird song in the morning! What more could you ask for. We have no hesitation returning to this very well kept site. Keep up the good work!

Perfection personified

Our MoHo journey began in this very tucked away yet highly convenient setting overlooking paddocks in a sunny spot. We needed to spend a week here whilst finishing work life ahead of our travels... Very private and secure site with wonderful owners/hosts. Limited hard-stand and grass very wet, but this was very early season and we were grateful for the opening and opportunity. Adequate service point and no facilities so you need to be self-sufficient, which we are and we prefer as the sites are always quieter... Perfect locality to explore the city of Winchester and many other local attractions... Highly recommend. We shall return.

One of the best sites in 3 years!

We have spent most of the last 3 years touring Europe and the UK in our caravan, using varying sites around Southampton as a base to visit our daughter and family. It's taken 3 years to find this lovely site which was recommended by my sister. Although I have passed the entrance many times, until we visited my sister and brother-in-law, I had thought the access would be difficult and the site small. In fact the drive opens out to a spacious site with basic water and waste facilities that are sheltered from rain, and kept clean and tidy. The grass is kept well cut and was very green while we were there. Previous reviewers have detailed buses, shops, pubs, access very well. We did not find road noise that bad, although with the M3 just a few miles away, you are aware of it, but we got used to it. Similarly with aircraft on final approach to the airport from the North, there is some noise, but this is infrequent and busiest first thing and early evening with commuter flights. When the prevailing Westerly wind shifts, we had a few days with aircraft taking off over the site but this is not the usual direction. None of the negatives would stop us staying here again. On the contrary - the positives far outweigh the negatives. Just a shame they are not open all year.

what a gem

One of the best visited, a very warm welcome from mr & mrs ansell on our arrival. even though they were busy, they made time to greet us, and also have a chat. very well laid out site, cwp grey waste & drinking water area very very clean well maintained. only one minor issue is, if the ground is wet, you may have slight problems, but i can add that mr ansell is more than willing to help you. very well kept site, hats off to you both. we have no hesitation on returning.

Well looked after site

Very well kept site with lovely views over surrounding fields. Well placed for many places of interest and within walking distance of a co-op, take away and bus stop for buses into Winchester. Mr Ansell keeps a close eye on things and the site is very secure as the gate is locked between the hours of 11pm and 7.30am. Water and toilet emptying facilities are immaculate but motorhomers need to carry a long hose or water carrier as the tap is fenced off, as is the grey water emptying point, so again, motorhomers need a container.  The hard standing, which we asked for as it was very wet, is on the access track so it was a bit of a squeeze for cars going in and out through the gate and cars drive over your hook up cable when accessing the grass pitches. Unfortunately the planes flying low on the landing approach to Southampton airport didn't stop until after 11pm and started again, every few minutes, at 6.30am. Maybe it was because of the wind direction but it was too noisy for us so we moved on after 1 night.  Also the road outside was very busy. The owners were very understanding and refunded the remaining 3 nights payment without any problem.

Lovely peaceful site

We spent 5 nights here with our caravan and my sister's . We were given a very warm welcome by the owners. The pitches were ample and the views across the paddocks was lovely. The site was very clean and tidy and also very secure. It was an ideal location for visiting Winchester Portsmouth and also for our ferry to the Isle of Wight. The only downside was it was a very hot 5 days and there was a lovely swimming pool next to the site but not open to CL visitors! We did understand it was the owners private pool :) . We will certainly return if we are ever down south.

Great break

Arrived at the site to a warm welcome from Val and Barry kindly offered to tow our van to its pitch as the ground was still a bit soft.Once we were settled in nothing more to do but sit and watch the day go by,what a wonderful feeling. The view across the fields was really nice and watching the horse pacing around waiting for his feed was something we had not seen before. However ,it was soon time to return home and our short stay was over.Once again Barry was very helpful in offering to tow the van off the pitch as,although we had nice weather the ground was still a bit soft,i gladly accepted his offer. This is a very good site with easy access to shops and the forest and Val and Barry are very helpful.I would recommend this site.
