Lovely, clean facilities

We very rarely stay on a CL with facilities, so the fact that this CL had them was a bonus. A last minute decision to stay here we were very lucky to get the one remaining pitch available for the Saturday and Sunday nights. As check in time was after 2pm we took a relaxing drive from our home in Lincolnshire, arriving about 3. We paid online prior to our arrival, so all the information we needed to ensure a seamless stay was emailed to us in advance. The facilities were lovely and clean and the showers nice and hot. Hubby bought 3 local beers and left the money in the honesty box in the facilities block. The free WiFi was also a bonus. The price includes a daily allowance of 10 kWh of electricity, which was more than enough for us, particularly as we were out all day on the Sunday and we don't have a tv in our outfit. We were in easy cycling distance of Dereham which was great, as we visited friends on the Sunday. We would definitely stay here again, particularly as we love cycling round Norfolk and its lovely villages and we have already recommended this site to our friends who don't tend to stay on CLs due to the lack of shower/wc facilities. The price of the CL was super value too, as we are finding more and more CLs are getting very overpriced for what they offer.

A lovely surprise

Our first CL stopover and what a welcome! The lovely owner greeted us on arrival and clearly explained what the site has to offer and apologised for the current work on the wind farm locally! This is an immaculate site with electric, water and waste disposal plus an excellent Elsen disposal point. The showers and toilet facilities (2) were spotless, warm ….. home from home! The lobby had a honesty box ‘shop’ with all sorts, including eggs, drinks, biscuits, chocolates etc this is a working farm, with sheep …. Which were delightful to watch. The village of Swanton Morley is not too far away and The Darbys pub provided us with a good meal and local ales. Thank you! We will definitely visit again.

Not to be missed

When we had read the previous reviews we hoped they were true - they were! Prior to arrival we received very comprehensive information via email from John giving all that you would need to know. When we arrived Rachel and John were not available but as we had received detailed arrival info we were able to get ourselves pitched, then spoke to John who was happy for us to continue. Rachel came shortly after to confirm we were all OK.
This is a site not to be missed, showers and toilets are spotlessly clean, the washing up facilities are also clean, there is a small shop selling locally produced goods including their own produced lamb products. The layout of the site is very well done and pitches are named after different breeds of sheep and pitches are of a good size with plenty of room between pitches. It is close to Dereham, not too far to go to the beach and National Trust properties and Norwich is also within reach. We could have stayed longer, but they were fully booked - pity (for us)! It is a site that we would have no hesitation to visit again, thank you again to John and Rachel.

A little bit of CL luxury

This is indeed a lovely site and it’s no wonder Walnut Tree Farm won an award - there’s clearly a lot of thought gone into the planning and it shows. We had three nights here in March and the quality hard standing made pitching easy - even if the awning did turn in to a large kite in the wind :) The only reason we didn’t give five stars across the board is due to the location of the road which is closer to the site than I had imagined, so there was noticeable traffic noise. Certainly not a deal breaker and it wouldn’t stop us visiting again… We are lucky to have many lovely CLs to choose from, but Walnut Tree Farm takes some beating.

All CL’s should be this well laid out and run.

We stayed at Walnut Tree for a week in December It is very well laid out, a pity other sites can’t do the same. We walked to the excellent butchers, that good went twice! The honesty shop is a brilliant addition, we purchased some of the excellent lamb burgers. The toilets and showers are like being at a hotel. Possible to get a bus to Norwich from the village stop. Plenty of walks in the area. The EHU is metered but an excellent system to monitor and top up. Paid £24 a night which included 10 units of electricity. Altogether a great place to stay.

First Class CL

We stayed at Walnut Tree for 5 nights last week and found the site to be very clean, well laid out and exceptionally welcoming. It has good access to the North Norfolk Coast, as well as lots of local interest. From the site it’s an easy walk to local pubs and an excellent Butchers. There are some really good local farm shops, and the site itself has its own “honesty “ shop sells various locally produced food and drink. The owner John and his family are friendly and welcoming, enhancing our stay. One I wouldn’t hesitate to recomend. .

Superb CL, excellent pitches and facilities.

This is a superb CL, one of the best we have stayed at in 15 years of caravanning. Booking availability is live on the CL’s own website. Setting up is so easy as you get your named pitch allocated before arrival. Pitches are a huge size, hard standing, enough for car, caravan and awning and are fully serviced with water, waste and electric ( top up electric payments are easy if required) . There are 2 showers, a washing machine and sink. The superb “honestly shop” is packed with local produce, eggs, milk, lamb burgers, ice cream, amongst other stuff. There is a seamless means of paying for everything by card. We ate at Darbys pub in Swanton Morley and thought the food and service to be excellent. John and his lovely family are welcoming informative and friendly. A superb CL all round and hopefully we will return. Thanks

Fantastic!!!

Just spent 10 nights at this fantastic CL, what a find, easy to get to, easy to enter and the pitches are all well laid out and large enough for the big units. All serviced pitches and the toilet block and honesty shop are the icing on the cake. Plenty to see and do in the surrounding area with lots of lovely country pubs to visit as well. If Carlsberg did CL's then this is what it would look like. Thank you Rachel, John and your little Fish's we will definitely be back.

You will not be disappointed

Delayed review due to minor disasters at home when we got back. A fabulous site good sized pitches. Showers were always clean and the water hot. The honesty shop was easy to use either card or cash. I bought some lamb shops to bring home and they were delicious. Our 14 day stay we had an electric allowance of £47.60 which was ample for us we and there was still just over £8.00 left we could have used. Its easy to check how much you use and if you needed to top up you can do it from as little as £2.00 and all from the comfort of your own van. We will be back.
