Happy to be back.

We have stayed here many times and always been greeted by Martin with a smile and laughter, Laughing  feels like coming home. Stayed for three weeks in April and were very lucky with the weather. If you want a first class base for walking then this is the site for you. Cannot fault anything about this CL. Could not give full rating for peace & tranquility because this is a working farm, but having said that it did not spoil our stay, that's why we keep coming back. Be sure to visit the Blacksmiths Arms for fantastic food.

Upper Hawthwaite Farm CL

Just had a lovely week at this very pleasant CL site despite a very mixed bag of weather. As others have said a very tidy farm with very good amenities if you choose to use them. The hardstanding pitches came into their own after a lot of heavy rain. Lovely views & the little lane up the hill is great for a quiet evening stroll.Though in a quiet area, you weren't far from all the attractions this part of the lakes has to offer. The Duddon valley , Tarn Hows & Coniston of course were all worth visiting. Had some nice pub meals nearby. The owner was a lovely chap who met us on arrival & explained everything you needed to know. Can highly recommend.

Perfect

Superb location. Magnificent views. hard standings and electricity with toilet and shower in small heated converted barn. All this for £13 a night! Although this is a working farm, it is always spotless. We have visited several times at all times of year and have always had a warm welcome from Martin and Pauline. If you like walking, cycling or climbing you can spend three weeks without having to use a car-ideal for motorhomes. Wonderful dog friendly pubs with real ale and fires three quarters of a mile((Blacksmith's Arms, Broughton Mills) and two miles away(Manor Arms, Broughton-CAMRA pub of the year every year since dot), four miles to Seathwaite and the Newfield arms. Plenty of low level walks if the weather is moist. Cannot praise or recommend it highly enough. Everything a CL should be. Wish I could keep it secret but the friendly, hard working owners deserve to reap some reward for the care and constant effort they put in. I think you will really enjoy this delightful place.

Superb beautiful spot

We have just arrived back from a week February 2014 area is beautiful. It is a working farm so lots of activity but they are always willing to chat and advise of super local areas. Lovely toilet and shower just what you need after a day on the hills. Lots of walks around the area can leave the car at the farm and walk from there. Quite central went to Coniston and did the The Coniston Old man which was the view from our caravan. Only 20 minutes from the beach at Millon lots and lots to see on the rainy day went to the Buddhist temple on way to Ulverston. All in all a great central site great facilities and lovely warm and friendly owners. definitely be back

Brilliant CL

This is a fantastic CL. Flat hardstanding pitches, good toilet and shower facilities, and immaculately kept. The landlord at the local Blacksmith's Arms called it 'the cleanest farm in Cumbria' when we told him where we were staying - and I can't argue with him. A great spot for a relaxing break in a quiet, but lovely part of the lakes.

Thanks from us

We had two weeks on this great site in early July 2013 The fact it's an adult only site makes it perfect for us The site is well maintained and the owners are very nice people with a busy farm to run but they always have time for a chat. The scenery from the site is nice, with hills in the distant too. The facilities are kept clean and the shower is a nice bonus. The pitches are in a good position for the sun, which we had plenty of during our stay. We would certainly stay here again as it's one of the best CL's we have stayed at.

Beautiful views and prestine farm with warm welcome

Excellent CL site with warm welcome & good shower & toilet facilities. Never seen such a clean well run farm! Note because it is in a beautiful location a bit difficult to find when main road signs are missing. Suggest approach from East on A595 & at the high point on the bend there is a White pub called White Cross Inn. Turn Right onto the A593 [sign missing] then immediately left with the car park on left. Proceed approx 1.25 mls then on bend turn left, signposted Blacksmiths Arms. The CL sit is on Right - well signposted. Do not proceed further than the pub as there is an impassible bridge! Pub worth visiting though!
