Unwelcoming
This CL is part of a commercial operation that also has a Transport Museum, Café, Kids Playground and two army trucks used for Glamping. The site was quiet at night, level and spacious, with views of Snowdonia. Some pitches had a picnic table, and there is one loo and one shower. There is a cold tap behind one pitch. All nice enough but the premium price of £25 a night is hard to justify.
We booked online well in advance for a Saturday and Sunday night via the Museum website, and paid in full. We didn’t spot that no confirmation email ever came, maybe it went to spam. Upon arrival and giving our name, the woman from the café wanted our booking number instead. Checks on our phones revealed no email confirmation. She made a phone call and was then quite insistent that they had no such booking for the weekend, and repeatedly asked if we had booked under a different name (no) or booked one of the many nearby CLs (no). Only after more time on the phone did she come out and say that in fact we were booked in. If there was an apology within the verbal flow I didn’t hear it. Just the sort of stressful encounter one can do without on holiday.
We had planned to visit the museum and café, but after this show of condescending attitude to customers we spent our money elsewhere. There are plenty of welcoming CLs on Anglesey, so we won’t be returning to this one.
