Our first CL and it was a great experiance!
This was a little gem of a place which for our first time on a CL was everything we hoped for. The facilities are excellant with fresh water, waste disposal and electric hook up all for £10 per night. There are 5 hard standings which were perfect for our 7.5 mtr Motorhome and access is no problem. It is well away from any main road, is extremely quiet and the views are beautiful. The directions on the website are not great however if you find the A6 from Bakewell to Buxton on a map, find the A5270 junction, imagine turning left from the A5270 and onto the A6 and driving towards Buxton then the farm entrance is approx 500 yards ahead on your left. The Monsal trail which is great for walking or cycling is either a short walk over the A6 from the farm entrance and following the trail accross country or the not so great walk down the main road, approx 0.6 miles to the car park entrance which leads along the river bank to the trail start and cycle hire shop. The bus stop for buses into Buxton is also located at the bottom of the hill by the quarry entrance. If you have any mobility problems then unless you have use of a car this site may not suit as walking anywhere is very uphill and down dale however if you simply want peace and quiet this is certainly the place to visit.
