Fantastic site!

We've just returned from a 4 night stay at this lovely site. Easy to find and our huge hardstanding pitch was clearly marked for us so despite arriving just as it was turning dark we were able to get in and get set up with no fuss. The views from the site are classically Peak District, big skies, rolling fields, stone walls, and stone buildings. Tissington is a beautiful village although at this time of year there wasn't anything open other than the great local butchers just along the lane. Didn't use the van at all during our stay, there are stunning walks from the site in every direction - the Tissington Trail gives an easy 4 miles down to Ashbourne, on another day we went further afield (lots of fields!) across to Ilam, Milldale, and Dovedale. If we had stayed longer we probably would have made use of the bus service to investigate the nearest towns but we were enjoying the walking so much we didn't bother. Would definitely recommend this site and hope to be back again one day.

A Perfect site!!!

Wow What a site -this is how to run a CL site nothing is too much trouble lovely relaxed atmosphere Ed and Kat are caravanners themselves which makes a huge difference if you have your own facilities you cannot do better than stay here . They have bookings till November -that really says it all unsurprisingly we are booked for 2022 already even the hailstones !! in May did not detract and looking over a field with calves being born was magical Ed and Kat keep doing what you are doing you are a credit to the BEST CL sites Regards Steve and Jackie and Mason the giant Schnauzer!!!

First Swallows of 2021!

Beautiful, peaceful and spacious site. Very well managed and maintained by Ed and Kathryn. Will definitely book again although very little availability until November - what a surprise!!! Fantastic for walking and cycling or just relaxing and enjoying the countryside. Great butchers close by. Access to Tissington trail very easy and the scenery is amazing. The swallows had just arrived and the sun shone for 4/5 days. A great start to our 2021 season and for our first trip after lockdown.

We Will Return !!

Lovely site, the pitches have plenty of space in a lovely large field. Hard standing and grass pitches. Very peaceful, great scenery. Just a couple of minutes walk to the butchers, Tissington Trail, and the village. A great find ! Our first time in this part of Derbyshire and with a bit of research before arriving there are many beautiful walks nearby. Before arriving the owners leave a board with your surname on it, on your pitch, if they are not around when you arrive as we found, then they came later in the day to welcome arrivals and sanitize where needed. You need your own facilities. Will certainly be returning soon.

Lovely site in In Tissngton village.

Lovely site in Tissington village with the beautiful Hall, tea rooms and pretty cottages. Only a few minutes walk to the Tissington trail. Mr Carr gave us a very warm welcome as soon as we arrived, also giving us a leaflet about the local walks. The site is in a lovely position, well cared for. Beautiful views. Very peaceful, A bus service to Buxton or Ashbourne runs through the village. The site has a board with the bus time tables and a small information shed. We will certainly be returning to this little gem.!!

Little Gem

We first saw this lovely site in May when we were visiting the area and booked a weekend as soon as we got home. Received a warm welcome from the friendly owners. We were given a leaflet of walks from the site and information hut has lots of interest in the area. Great views of the countryside and of The Hall as the site is a little higher than the village. Grass kept nice and short, recycling bins near gate and Elsan point neatly screened in the corner. We walked to Ashbourne on the Tissington trail which was just over 5 miles each way. The village has a super butchers, homemade sausages are very good. Will return when in this area again.

Lovely site in a very unspoilt yesteryear village. If you stay here, just make sure there is still space for us!

This is a really unpoilt little site which we would love to keep to ourselves, but it is also too special not to share. Tissington site is a typical CL with EHU, Water and Waste Disposal point, no other site facilities, so own onboard facilities essential. Fairly level site, with two hard standings and the remainder being grass, with lovely views across the Derbyshire hillside. There is usually a field of grazing cows in the adjacent field. The site is situated 5 minutes walk from the Tissington Trail which offers terrific walks and cycling. The village itself is dominated by Tissington Hall which overlooks the village church. Next to the hall is Herberts teashop which is very popular with cyclists and other visitors alike, servimg delcious pots of real leaf tea and a variety of snacks, meals and cakes (including gluten free options) Seating is both available inside and outside overlooking the church. Next to the village pond situated in the old kitchen garden is the nursery which grows many thousands of plants each year including more unusual and difficult to find varieties. The craft shop is always interesting for a wander On a wick and a prayer is the scented candle designers and manufacturers which smells wonderful as you wander round. They do not sell matches however. Ideal for that insect repelling candle or early christmas presant purchasing There is an old world sweetshop and ice cream parlour. (again, gluten free options available) A butcher selling a variety of quality local meats which is idea for that impromptu BBQ. The nearest pub is The Blue Bell Inn 0.9 miles away on the A515. The owners are really welcoming and are themselves caravaners and therefore the site has been thought out in a very practical, usable way. This site is one of our favourite spots and we visit many times during each season. Maybe see you there.
