Glorious

Site immaculate hard standings for Motorhome with easy access to fill water tank albeit didn’t find drive over waste point! No matter where pitched up when sun out bathed whole of roomy site. Bit muddled as to which Wheelie was for recycling Cathy received my comment all in good faith 🙂 20min slow walk to main road in Village of Watton takes you to bus stops couldn’t be easier to get to Beverly Hull Driffield and Bridlington very reasonable fares too Will be back hopefully to get on bikes and travel numerous cycle ways

Comment from the CL Owners

We’re delighted you enjoyed your stay at Thistledown Caravan Site and hope you’ll stay with us again.

We must apologise for being unclear about the drive over waste disposal point, which is not located in view of the caravan site. We operate it free of charge but on request.

Our best wishes,

Cathy & Simon Spence

A charming site

A very well maintained and laid out site. We were up to visit family this winter so we’re very pleased to have the hard standing. It’s far enough away from the coast to be peaceful yet near enough to go out for the day. Nearby Beverley is well worth a visit and he Minster there is truly stunning.

Immaculate Quality CL

We stayed here a couple of unplanned nights in October. It is a fantastic newish CL which has been superbly thought out and is credit to the owners as they have done a spot on job. The access is via two lovely wide farm gates so plenty of room to manoeuvre and excellent road surface. Once onto the roomy site, it has two sides - the delightful perfectly manicured grass area and the superb quality level hardstanding. The water taps were brilliant as so clean/tidy. The CDP was unusual (difficult to explain) but was excellent and easy to use and so clean/tidy. Excellent recycling too. Very pleasant aspect/view of surrounding apple trees and laurel hedging. The site is next to a train level crossing so you do hear the regular trains going past (hence 4* for Peace & Tranquility but no adverse reflection on site), we did not find it intrusive. There is a nearby Nature Reserve at Tophill Low (3 miles down lane - 20 min cycle ride - lovely place to visit especially if you are a bird fan and a bargain). The main Beverley/Driffield road is about 10 minute walk up the country lane through Watton with footpaths for most of it, from here regular buses go to Beverley/Hull in one direction and Driffield/Bridlington the other way. Or alternatively you can go Hutton Cranswick (either main road as footpath or footpath across livestock fields from back of Watton Abbey) which is about 2.5-3 miles away and get the regular train service from this village. Also in this village is superb butchers - Whites, a Spar shop, good pub White Horse with spot on food, excellent farm shop with cafe as well as another cafe in the garden centre. The owner, Cathy, was delightful, very keen to ensure her CL is spot on and providing a good stop to stay which she is doing brilliantly. The place is a credit to her. She was so lovely from our first phone call, very helpful and friendly. A pleasure to stay at her lovely site.

Picked this randomly

Picked this site randomly, and what a find. So peaceful, and fully enclosed so our Cockapoo Millie could run around off lead. We like a small peaceful site, and Simon and Cathy, who run it, are two of the nicest people you could wish to meet.
