Handy for Loch Ness, if you have a car

We stayed here in September 2011 on a trip around the highlands. The site has good quality hard-standings, overlooking the hills and fells. Although there were no other facilities, the hotel bar was open to non-residents and they produced very tasty (but not cheap) meals, we dined there for a special occasion. The minor road, on which the hotel is set, was pleasant for cycling, though keep an eye out for timber lorries which drive very fast! The RSPB reserve of Loch Ruthven was an easy walk away, Slavonian grebes can be seen there in the summer. We saw a few red squirrels in the wooded walks just south of the hotel. Loch Ness was a few miles away, but you would need a car to get there. As we usually park our motorhome and use our cycles or public transport, we only gave this site a 3 stars as there were no buses nearby and few adjacent footpaths.
