A working farm with fantastic facilities and lovely walks from the site
The manor house site is a pretty field on a working farm, easily accessed from the Dorchester to Weymouth Road. The owner Judy is very welcoming and communication regarding payment, directions and where to pitch was great. Judy couldn't possibly have done more to make us feel welcome
The water and disposal areas were well kept and there is an information chalet which has plenty of useful tourist information. There are two hard standings which could be useful in winter or wet weather.
There is a modern toilet/shower room just across the lane which were maintained and spotlessly clean. The code for the door was communicated prior to arrival but was also listed in the information hut. Television reception was good and each pitch were provided with a cable to ensure good connection
Dorchester is only a mile or so away with a large Tesco’s nearby to ensure you don’t run out of anything. Weymouth is easily accessible as is Thomas Hardy’s birthplace and National Trust properties. Maiden Castle Iron Age Hill fort is just behind site, it’s a short walk from the site to the entrance and around it is a great circular walk. There is some road noise from the A354 but not enough to detract from a lovely bank holiday stay. Definitely a place we will return too
