Pleasant site
lovely quiet country site but near major towns & Portsmouth
I have used Mr Camp's sites on Hayling many times and have always thoroughly enjoyed our stays. The Covert is situated immediately opposite Lower Tye Farm CL also part of Mr Camps estate - although now since he died they all run by his Executors & Ann the manager. I'm surprised that 1 reviewer said it was noisy as I've always found it very peaceful with only occassional traffic passing by. As others have mentioned - there is fresh water & chemical emptying on site but rubbish has to be taken over to Lower Tye Farm where there is a big bin + also a toilet with hot & cold water. These sites are not luxurious - but then they are working farm / stable sites so you know what to expect. The entrance is set back so you need to drive slowly along the copse lane (as you should anyway on country lanes) so you don't miss it. As also been said you need to go to the site office over the road next to the farm house to pay & for help / info. Only once did I find that there were more than the alloted 5 vans - on that day I discovered that 1 was leaving later that day & the other had arrived & set them selves up without prior booking so not the site owners fault. It obviously is only sensible to at least phone the site 1st & make a booking (as I always do) to ensure that they can fit you in.
Spoilt by Greed
such a shame
First CL visit
The Covert Easter 2013
We have just returned from staying over the Easter weekend here. There is another Cl right opposite which we thought was the one we were looking for. But a quick phone call and all was sorted. We pitched up on a firm standing, found out where everything was and set about getting our bearings. All in all this site has some very good points. It has working stables so young children would love it here which is a shame it's adults only. Also tucked away around the back of the main farm house is a toilet which your able to have use of. It's a great base to explore from or a stop over before your ferry crossing. Next time we're in Hayling Island we'll be visiting again.
