A Return Visit

Our first visit for 2014. We love this site, it's peaceful. This time we met up with relatives from Oz. They loved the area, especially chilling out on the CL, catching up with us, over a glass of chilled wine, with just the sounds of the owls for background music. We explored on foot, following the canal south down towards Purton, stopping at the Berkeley Arms, for a well earned shandy…We covered about 10 miles on the Saturday, walking back through Mike & Carolynns huge mixed wood, into the CL. Great stuff.  I would recommend an OS Map, to get maximum pleasure from the site. Lots and lots of public footpaths that you can pick up on and really get to explore the area.

Quiet and secluded

Arrived, having pre-booked, to find 5 vans already on site. Site very secluded and quiet, surrounded by trees, but not next to the canal, as we had expected. We had to go through trees, across a ditch and scramble up the bank to arrive on the side of the canal....and the towpath was on the other side! Good dog walking straight from site though. Frampton is a pretty village with a general store and easy access to the canal. Would recommend the Stable tea rooms at the canal basin for breakfast, lunch etc.

Great Site - Peace, Tranquility, Solitude

If its good, it should be shared. I thought this might be useful to members who use CL's. Staying on a beautiful isolated Caravan Club CL called Tanhouse Farm, alongside the Gloucester - Sharpness Canal. Only 10 mins from J13 on the M5, so Ideal if your looking for a break as you criss-cross the country. Basic facilities..but with EHU. basically in the middle of a huge oak wood. No roads nearby, only pheasants, owls, buzzards and carp if you're into canal fishing. Plenty of space for the mutt. Sun-Thur £12. Sites like this are why we wanted a motorhome. The nearest village is a 10 min walk called Frampton on Severn.
