An unexpected oasis

Booked this CL in order to visit family nearby thus location was more important than the site itself. However, this CL is well set up with water and 16A EHU to each pitch. The site is a good size field with firm flat standings. What I didn't expect was the peaceful and lovely surroundings. So very close to busy holiday area and yet you wouldn't know when on site - no street lights and quiet during the night. Hugh, the owner, is a pleasant chap who appears from time to time - I saw him once in 6 nights. Access is simple enough at around ten mins from the A55. The toilet disposal arrangements are perfectly satisfactory. At £14 it provides excellent value for money. We will return.

Quiet and Peaceful Site

This is a basic but pleasant site within easy walking and cycling distance of Rhyl and the North Wales coast. Electric and water at each pitch. Nice level grass pitches on a working farm. Owner very friendly and welcoming. Good tv and 4g signals. Excellent price.

Good site not too far from Rhyl town and the sea front.

We took our bikes to cycle around the area. Most of the cycle routes that are taken from the site are traffic free. It is very easy to reach Rhyl town and the sea front and beaches without going on many busy roads. The only busy place was on the H road crossing the railway line near the station, as all traffic has to use this intersection. We cycled along the sea front west towards Towyn, and east towards Prestatyn. There is also a traffic free route to St. Asaph. The site itself has 16 amp supply on the pitch along with a water tap on the pitch. On arrival the grass was long, but not excessive. The farmer had been been very busy with the surrounding fields and worked long hours, as it had been wet the previous weeks, so he wanted to concentrate on that and not the CL. But after a few days the grass was cut. The farmer does not live near the CL, so members have to wait until he calls for the site fees

Site that never fails to welcome you

This is a basic site on a working farm, you are surrounded by lush scenery. Local places of interest are easy to get to, pub and convenience store within walking distance, chippy (Aunti Mandies) under new owners is great, proper chips and crispy batter on fish. Excellent Indian restaurant in Rhuddlan (Village Masalla) does take away as well. Only problem is getting hold of Hugh (owner) to pay him!

Good value

Stayed mid August. Regarding the previous review there were no loose dogs. Several units were there for week/2week stays and enjoyed it. During the day there was some farm traffic back and forth but that is what you get on a working farm. Absolute silence at night. For those that cycle if you return to the road and turn left , just a short way on the road you come to a cycle route which is lovely. Along the sea wall into Rhuddlan , which is a nice little town/village, where you can visit the Castle have a cream tea etc. There is no information hut so suggest you research the area before going. I would recommend this site and hope to go back ourselves.

Not for us

We arrived to find a very good sized field with water and power at each pitch which was very nice. The farm is a busy working livestock farm so we expected some noise but found it too noisy for us. The house opposite to the site, was not part of the farm and was quite a busy and noisy place. They also owned dogs which they allowed to roam freely, including visiting the site. We kept our dogs on leads and tethers and these dogs were almost taunting them, making them bark so we had to either bring them in or go off the site. There are no reasonable walking areas for the dogs so be prepared to go for very long walks or drive to the dog friendly beach area down by the harbour in Rhyl. The mobile access was quite good. Cost was reasonable for the site but it really needed the grass cutting more regularly. There is also a problem with flies due to the livestock and manure. This can be an issue for some.
