Ease of arrival/welcome

A little bit of paradise

Unfortunately the owners were away at the time of our visit so we were unable to meet them. Access is via a single track lane and it is tight at times. We met a recycling lorry when arriving and he had to reverse quite a way before we could successfully pass. The turn into the site is tight for a larger van so watch out - we chose to exit via the larger second gate at the far end as there is a bigger area to swing round in on the road. What a view though - well worth the trouble and so tranquil. When we arrived the only other van on site was parked at 90 degrees to the hedge but we found this didn't work for our larger van as the slope was too great. However, by positioning the van on blocks in line with the hedge we managed to get it just about level and were then able to observe the beautiful view. The sun rises behind the vans but correspondingly sets opposite, providing beautiful evening light during the summer months. How nice to be able to sit out and admire not only the beautiful view but the wildlife plus the domestic animals on the hillside opposite. Apparently wild deer can occasionally be viewed but we missed out. Lots of good walks too. Sidmouth and other attractions are but a few minutes away and The Hare & Hounds provided a fantastic meal with a good walk afterwards to burn it off when returning to the site. Highly recommended if you want to get away from it all yet still be convenient for the sea and local fayre.
