Great site that will test your towing and setting up skills.

After reading some of the reviews I did my homework on how best to get to the site. Make sure that you follow the directions given on the site page and follow the hotel sign. The approach road is slightly wider than the caravan. You do a sharp right turn if approaching from Honiton on the A375. The site is about 1/2 mile down a single track road. Don't worry, you will be extremely unlucky if you meet anybody coming the other way. Turning into the site needs to be done carefully. I got in OK with a 7.5 metre long caravan. Once you turn into the site the first word that came to mind was Wow. The view is fantastic. You will need some blocks to level the caravan. Take your time and choose your position carefully, there is plenty of room. There is water and electricity on every pitch, so no repetitive filling of the water container. There are no toilet or shower facilities. Going back to the view, I have to say that this was one of the best if not the best view from a CL site that we have been on. The site is very quiet, the adjacent single track road is extremely lightly used as it appears to be a road to nowhere. A previous reviewer mentioned the Hare and Hounds. We had an excellent Sunday Roast there. Although it appears close I would not recommend walking as there is no pavement on the A375 and fast moving traffic. We also had a meal at the Pig at the Combe, very expensive but very good. We had vouchers bought for us and this was the reason we stayed on this site. The site will test your towing and setting up skills but all great fun. Overall this is a fantastic site and well worth the effort.

A little bit of paradise

Unfortunately the owners were away at the time of our visit so we were unable to meet them. Access is via a single track lane and it is tight at times. We met a recycling lorry when arriving and he had to reverse quite a way before we could successfully pass. The turn into the site is tight for a larger van so watch out - we chose to exit via the larger second gate at the far end as there is a bigger area to swing round in on the road. What a view though - well worth the trouble and so tranquil. When we arrived the only other van on site was parked at 90 degrees to the hedge but we found this didn't work for our larger van as the slope was too great. However, by positioning the van on blocks in line with the hedge we managed to get it just about level and were then able to observe the beautiful view. The sun rises behind the vans but correspondingly sets opposite, providing beautiful evening light during the summer months. How nice to be able to sit out and admire not only the beautiful view but the wildlife plus the domestic animals on the hillside opposite. Apparently wild deer can occasionally be viewed but we missed out. Lots of good walks too. Sidmouth and other attractions are but a few minutes away and The Hare & Hounds provided a fantastic meal with a good walk afterwards to burn it off when returning to the site. Highly recommended if you want to get away from it all yet still be convenient for the sea and local fayre.

One of the best

We found this site a few years ago and just keep returning every year. It is in a beautiful spot with well laid out pitches. Each pitch has its own hookup and water tap which makes for easy setup. The location is so quiet with wonderfull views across the Sid valley and there are plenty of walks from the site. We love it.

Top CL

Nice CL. Very long site adjacent to the empty lane, with power & water points well spread apart. Very clear & accurate arrival instructions. On quite a slope so you may need blocks to help level. Peaceful, well placed and wonderful outlook over the hills. Just how we like it!

It's great little site

About 4 miles uphill from Sidmouth (Sidmouth/Honiton road) and just outside Sidbury. Adjacent to a VERY quiet, single track lane and separated from it by a thick hedge which in May was full of colourful spring wild flowers including bluebells. Site is slightly slanting but, by parking on the top and the use of chocks, it was fine. Grass was adequately cut. Overlooked a rapeseed crop, rolling hills and sea is visible in the distance. We have visited twice and were lucky enough to have the field to ourselves for a few days which was brilliant (unsociable wotnots that we are!). There is no shower/wc block (which we don't mind in the least). I love the fact that each EHU has a water tap next to it so no having to fill up van from a single site tap or lugging a container around. We have a little dog and it was wonderful to just walk down the field, over the brook and join the network of miles of footpaths once up the puffy hill opposite. Monique and her husband are friendly and accommodating, actually driving us to guide us to the site when we arrived lated so late. Be prepared to do a spot of reversing if you are unfortunate enough to meet the very occasional vehicle coming in the opposite direction. There is a small hotel along the lane, a few nice detached homes and a couple of farms. Don't know why I am writing a rave review because I don't want anyone else to discover it!!! Poor Monique will certainly be seeing us again ... please!

Just what a CL should be

Lovely site.  Peace, space, views and access to wonderful coast & countryside.  Well worth the trip for 'us Yorkshire types' and proved to be site we always try to find - one that really makes you appreciate your 'van and what you can see and do if you make the effort.   We brought a sea kayak and bikes and made best use of them both at Sidmouth and Beer (spent most of the week at this lovely shingle beach - very safe for the kids) and direct access into the forests with the bikes.   Also met some fantastic club members who shared their local knowledge.  Monique was very accommodating throughout our stay. Yes the lane is tight and yes there's a slope - but that's half the fun?!

Lovely Site

Thankyou to Monique for a lovely long weekend spent at this wonderful site. A warm welcome and very well kept site with great views over the valley and surrounding countryside. Water and electric hook-ups perfectly positioned and you do feel like you can escape everything and enjoy the peace and quiet. This site is highly recommended and after many lovely holidays spent here, we will definitely return again.

long weekend break

We returned to this CL because we enjoyed our stay here 2 years ago. The site is very quiet and scenic, a great base for touring south Devon, lots of dog walks from the site . The site does slope somewhat but not enough to make it difficult to level up. The narrow lane into the site is in a poor state of repair with many pot holes and the site entrance is challenging!. Even though we had a lot of rain and the field was quite sodden we exited the field with no problems.

Brilliant site with wonderful views

Brilliant site, wonderful views. The entrance turn-off from the narrow lane could be a bit tight for big outfits. Do follow the written instructions and not the sat nav. Despite the obvious warnings, we still found one chap who followed his sat nav and came in the wrong way - with great difficulty. Thankfully he didn't meet any other vehicles on the steep single-track corners. Take all your levelling blocks: if you pitch parallel to the hedge you need two steps to get up. and if you pitch hitch to the views, you need two breeze blocks under the steadies. Long thin site on the side of a hill. Don't be put off though. Very friendly owners.

A little gem

Just returned from a week staying at Synderborough Farm which was my first visit to this site and what a little gem it is. Tucked away in the Sid Valley with tranquil surroundings and yet only a short drive from the coast, it will certainly not be my only visit
