Hidden Gem

We have visited Swan lake on numerous occasions and have always found this little gem, a beautiful site to visit, a lovely warm welcome from the owner, the site is always well maintained and is always kept clean and tidy, tranquil and peaceful in all aspects, perfectly situated for a pleasant stroll into woolpit or a small drive to the lovely knettishal woods , such a lovely area to explore either by foot, by bike or by car.

Lovely Site

We really like this site, having been several times. It is basic with a lovely mown area, lake and accessible amenities. There is a small industrial area next to it but we have never found this a problem. The A14 is close by and there is only very slight noise from it during the day. We did some great walks into surrounding villages and will definitely be back. Lovely village with nice pub, bakery and fish and chip shop. Mr Baker is always very helpful and friendly.

Handy site close to A14

This is our second visit to this site as we have family in nearby Stanton, so the site’s proximity to the A14 makes it an ideal site for us. On reading a couple of the reviews we didn’t have high hopes but as we were just using it as a place to sleep we weren’t that bothered. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The industrial site is very small and not noisy at all. The housing estate is finished so no noise from there either. The site is flat and surrounded by trees on three sides and the fourth is the entrance and hard standing area with, I think, coppiced willows which come summer will hide the view to the industrial estate. Site is handy to visit Bury St Edmunds, Thetford and surrounding area. Martin, the owner, is a very nice guy and we’ll definitely use this site again.

Pleasant short stay

This was a quick weekend away for us . The first positive point was that we were allowed to stay on for a little lunch as we got up early and had a walk and visit to Lavenham. We'd gone by 1.00 pm, the site was quiet, but we'd had a weekend away. Thank You Martin The site is what i'd call basic with electric - a nicely mown plot with recycling - which is exactly what we like. As it was a short visit, we had to work out where to pay (the bungalow on your left as you enter the inductrial estate, which is nowhere near as bad as it sounds) - This also makes access incredibly easy - when on site we couldn't see it and certainly didn't hear anything. The site is near to the A14, which is great for access and allows quick progress when popping out, We did notice the road noise the first night going to bed, but I didn't the second. I'd say we adapted very quickly to its presence. East Anglia is not a place we'd normally visit, big walkers and like the hills. Therefore we found the walking a little bland, but the villages are nice, and we enjoyed our visits to Bury St edmunds and Lavenham. Woolpit is worth a short walk around and explore for those not wanting anything too energetic. Is there anything I would recommend for improvement - not really I'd have to be very picky. Some of the amenities could have been labelled better - not clear what we could recycle and the chemical toilet disposal is just off the footpath behind the hedge. If we'd had caught Martin earlier, I'm pretty sure he'd have told us - when he came onto site. Would I recommend the site - certainly

Great site

Easy access from A14 and very little road noise. Nice flat site with plenty of room and EHU strategically placed. HS for winter looks like. Large lake with fish in, easy access to village and local amenities. Good communication from Owner who met us on arrival and pointed facilities out.

Would recommend.

Swan Lake

We had a really nice welcome. The site is mostly level and beautifully kept. The surrounding scenery and lake are delightful and it was easy to walk to the village of Woolpit. There is a plethora wildlife and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this site. We will be returning in the future.
