A very special place
We visited Swalland Farm at the end of May 2016. Having visited before, as a child with my parents I was aware of the unusual location. Yes the access track is rough in places, but the views from the field out across the sea are to die for.
The walks from the site to the coast path are also so worth it!
As others have said, it's not always obvious where to go, and as it is a working farm it's not always easy to find someone to ask. If you are booked in, just pull into the field behind the farmhouse and pick a spot.
I can't say it is a quiet site, but you quickly get used to the sounds of tractors and cows. The boy had the opportunity to see milking on a real working dairy farm, not an everyday occurrence for us townies!
Lovely to have electric hookup on such a small site, although toilet facilities are very basic. No lock on the toilet door, leaves one reliant on whistling, or hanging the stone on the door knob. We took a screwdriver to the toilet to wedge in the door for a little extra security! Don't forget to bring your own toilet rolls.
No phone signal, no Wifi. A fantastic chance to get back to basics, and away from modern life!
We will be back!
