Wonderful Couple and Extreemly Accomadating.

Mr & Mrs Mardell really are the most lovely couple that you would wish meet and stay with at their lovely secluded camp site. Stone House Farm is only 80 miles from us and after using the site as a try out for our first trip in a caravan in 2014 we have returned 8 times. Which says it all. Extremely accommodating, understanding, helpful, keenly interested in Campers needs. Very Pet friendly, fully respectful of Campers privacy. The Facilities are excellent, The electric connection is more than adequate. We have Heating, Microwave, Hot Water, Cooker, Shower. TV, Computers, you name it all running without hitch. Very easy reach to London. There is a Rail Link to London at Bishops Stortford, Ware, and Epping. Bishops Stortford is a lovely Shopping Town. If you like Antiques there is the Sawbridgeworths Antiques Centre not 30 Minuets away. Many Public Footpaths to Little Hadham, Much Hadham, with the village of Church End nearby. This part of Hertfordshire needs visiting to be appreciated. With Albury, all the Pellem's and Villages beyond the scenery is endless. My Wife and I could not recommend their Site more Highly. We shall return time and time again. John and Betty Ansell

Stunning little site

Stayed here for three days for a local short break. Pre-communication and details were excellent. Arrival was faultless; we had a good choice of the pitches and once we were settled and obviously the kettle was on the lovely owners popped up to see us and check we were ok. Pitches are level, huge and face west with a lovely natural tree hedge line to the rear to provide shelter/privacy. Facilities were excellent 16A EHU, water, waste etc. The views from the site were exceptional with uninterrupted farm and country land as far as you could see. Dog walks from the site were plentiful with a stunning field for our two spaniels to burn some energy off. Tesco and the town of Bishop’s Stortford are just under 2 miles away with all the conveniences of a large town. Located between the A10 and M11 giving easy access to many local attractions like Duxford. Simply a perfect little CL site!

Lovely views and Alpacas too !

We have stayed at Stone House farm a few times to visit relatives in the area and really enjoy the views of the rolling Hertfordshire hills and farmland. Very convenient for the A120 into Bishop's Stortford or connecting onto the A10 or M11. The road is only a few hundred metres away but it is surprisingly quiet and peaceful on the CL itself. There can be a little aircraft noise from Stansted, depending on which way the aircraft are landing/taking off but it's not invasive and can be entertaining watching them wizz by. The CL is well maintained, on a slight slope so well drained and all 5 pitches have electric hook up which is a real bonus. Local info available in the little post box nearby and of course, most important, a view of the Alpacas in the adjacent field! Well worth a stay if you're in the area.

DON'T BE PUT OFF BY THE ROAD

A well maintained and spacious CL set in attractive open countryside with farmland  views.  The CL is 300 meters off the busy single carriageway A120 but it is out of sight of the road.  Traffic noise is remarkably muffled and unobtrusive, probably because the road's speed limit is 40 mph reducing to 30 mph by the CL and slower still as the traffic backs up either side of the traffic lights in Little Hadham village.  The CL isn't under the flightpath of nearby Stanstead Airport but every now and then an aircraft flys overhead at some height.  There are no flights at night.  Other than this, the CL is very peaceful.  Access is easy and TV and mobile phone signals are generally good and the short cut grass drains well when it rains.  There are many quiet and attractive countryside walks in the area including from the site via 3 paths to the South, West and North.  1:25,000 OS Explorer 194 gives good coverage and we found the AA book of 50 Hertfordshire Walks to be useful for both local and more distant walks.  The local pub, the historic Hadham Hall & Church and a large polo complex with matches alternate Sundays are a short walk away.   The delightful Much Hadham village (best kept in Hertfordshire) is a little further away from where it is possible to arrange a visit to the nearby Henry Moore Foundation.  There is no shortage of good pubs/places to eat.   Bishops Stortford is an attractive and interesting town which can be reached quickly and easily by car and includes a good rail link to London and a Tesco Superstore hidden by trees from the road that is only 5 minutes away.  The meandering Hertfordshire Way passes North of the site and provides an alternative route into Bishops Stortford for those wanting a long walk.  NT Hatfield Forest, Ware, Hertford and the Lee Canal, IWM Duxford, NT Wimpole are worthy car trips.  Cambridge can be reached surprisingly quickly via the M11.  An advantage of being on the A120 is that it's relatively easy to get to places.  If we had stayed for longer than a week we would have found more things to do.

Spring Visit

This is a peaceful, level all grass site easily accessed off the A120 from Bishops Stortford to Hertford. Although not far from the road and close to Stanstead Airfield it is a quiet site. There are a number of footpaths that pass the site, good for taking one's dog out or for much longer walks. There are a number of historic properties not far away, including Audley End House, Hatfield House and Hatfield Forest. Bishops Stortford, about 3 mls away has a Tesco and an Aldi and there is a pub about a mile from the site across the fields. There are bus stops in Little Hadham less than 1/2 ml from the site entrance. We only saw the owners when we went to pay but they were both friendly and helpful. We will not hesitate to use this site again whenever we're in the area.

The Marrows

Used the site for 5 night stay whilst son away having flown from Stansted airport. Site well kept with useful info housed in American style post box. Mrs Mardell visited for the fees and provided us with a marrow - apparently Mr M has produced a few too many this year! Public footpaths abound and country lanes / bridleways a plenty for road or trail cycling. Bishops Stortford just up the road and other places to visit not too far away. As others have mentioned there is some aircraft activity but not intrusive and didn't spoil our stay - if you book a site near an airport, it comes with the territory. Very accommodating when asked to delay our departure. Would recommend.

Convenient for the M11

This is an immaculately kept little CL. We just used it as a stopover as we travelled south on the M11 and it is very well located for that. The views from the CL are very pretty and totally rural. There is an excellent dog walk adjacent to the site. We can't comment on staying long term, but there was a little shelter on site which looked as if it contained ideas for things to do. The site is near Stansted Airport and although there was some plane noise it was not intrusive.
