A pitch with an amazing view!

What a privilege it was to be allowed to pitch on a site with such an amazing view (as the pictures show). Great communication with Janet both before and during our stay, and on arrival when her son Robert was very helpful not only advising us about the site but the surrounding area. The site was clean and well laid out with electric and water on each hardstanding pitch that due to feedback have now been made wider. Chemical waste point was of a high standard too. We enjoyed lots of walks not only to Settle along the river but also to Stainforth Force and beyond. If this site was nearer to home it would definitely be on our favourites list.

To Good to share this one...... but we must

A fantastic site within walking distance of Settle, Giggleswick, Stainforth and many of Yorkshire Dales attractions. Small and peaceful with your own water tap/ electricity is charged extra by topping up using a smart phone (ideal for them cold nights). We stayed 3 nights this Easter w/end. The owners are excellent hosting and with comms... Janet was really helpful and visible on arrival (and departure) but we set off early so missed her. Have booked to stay again twice this year - having stayed at many CLs and larger sites, this is one of the very best in a fantastic panoramic location. Very selfishly and reluctantly (as we want to make sure there are vacancies for us) we absolutely recommend a visit to this fairly new good value for money site in a spectacular location. Improving and listening

A 10 out of 10 site! Whilst the pitches are indeed slightly narrow, we got our motorhome in without any fuss. This is a brand new site and Janet the owner is very keen to hear feedback and is without doubt listening and acting on suggestions. Fir example, owners have insulated all water pipes to excellent levels so frozen pipes all sorted now. Firm plans are in place to widen the pitches and make any other minor necessary changes Previous reviews are somewhat exaggerated! Every pitch has electricity and water, but a minor change I would recommend is a water point on the site turning point for those vehicles with water filling points in the middle of their vehicles. Janet the owner is lovely, checked we were OK and was great communicating. Gorgeous views and a lovely quiet location, but nice and easy to get to town to. Brilliant for walkers with so much to see and do. This is already a brilliant site and will become super popular because of owners efforts to improve constantly. The Starr family

Great CL

A really warm welcome from Janet the owner whose site is in the perfect location for great views, walks and cycle routes up and down the Ribble valley and beyond. The site isn’t a year old and has new metered electricity and water tap at each pitch also the owner has taken on board review feedback and plans to increase the size and access to each hardstanding pitch. We’ll be back !!

Lovely site with work left to do

Firstly the positives - the site is within walking distance of Giggleswick and Settle however if you're like us you value peace, tranquility and access to countryside and this site has plenty of walks, a lovely riverside and plenty of quiet nature and amazing views. As others have stated, the bays are narrow but they are set a fair distance from each other which gives good privacy. However, there are a few niggles and one major flaw with this site. Unfortunately there are no dog washing facilities and the hose for the chemical waste is so rigid that its hard to wash out the toilet of the cleaning point. Also, none of the water pipes are insulated, so they froze overnight and we had no means of filling the aqua roll. Unfortunately, the biggest challenge is the electricity meter. Our advice would be to insist on being given access to the app so you are in control of the meter - we weren't given it and it caused problems both days. We arrived on a Friday evening and were lucky enough to have been left £8.50 on the electric meter by the previous occupant, however this ran out overnight despite only standard use of appliances in the van (no TV, heating on gas and electric etc) so we woke up freezing cold. Unfortunately it took several texts, calls and going to the house before the owner topped up the electrics on our behalf as we were not given the app. The £10 top up lasted only 18 hours so we woke up freezing again on the Sunday morning and the water point was frozen so we had no water either. Again, texts were sent and eventually the electrics were topped up again but with no communication from the owners. Overall I'm sure that the teething issues will be overcome as the owners were nice when they interacted, but we left feeling that the trip was more fraught than it should have been, as well as a lot more expensive than expected at £80 for 2 nights (even though we have 200w solar on the van). Overall it cost almost as much in electrics for the van overnight as it does to look after our home which certainly left a bitter taste in the mouth.

Great Site but Further Tweaks Needed

We stayed over New Year . Fantastic location - we went hiking and cycling direct from the site. The metered electricity is a bit of a faff and we were anxious we would run out without putting lots of money on the meter. The pitches are far too narrow and you have to walk on the grass which was very wet and muddy. You can't avoid driving on the grass because of the narrow pitches and we got stuck in the mud.

Delightful site in perfect setting

The site is across the quiet lane from the farm and farmhouse and surrounded by beautiful scenery - rolling hills, a breathtaking river walk and all a short stroll from Giggleswick and Settle. The weather was not always kind to us (though it was the end of December) but we were cosy and comfortable and Mr and Mrs Newhouse and their son could not have been more accommodating, helpful and welcoming. We agree with other reviewers that this is likely to become a very popular site and we certainly would love to return. A wonderful place to stay for peace and quiet in stunning surroundings, with ready access to the shops, restaurants and pubs of the charming town of Settle.

Perfect CL

Perfect location. We stayed for 6 nights in early September. The site has a fabulous outlook and is very quiet. Sheep in the field surrounding the site and barn owls in the nearby trees at night. The owners are very welcoming and friendly, Janet shared with us some points of interest about the area nearby. Each pitch has a tap, we used our aqua roll rather than hooking upto the tap as our hose wasn’t long enough to reach. Electricity is a pre payment meter which was really easy to load from an app on the phone. Janet explained how to do this and left us the instructions. We used about £3.00 per day. We like to walk from our caravan rather than use the car once on site, this site was perfect for this. Settle and Giggleswick are just a short walk away (25 Minutes), there is everything you could need in a vibrant and thriving town. We barely scratched the surface of the walking that we could achieve nearby. We will definitely be back. James & Susan

A little gem!!

We think this site is going to be a very popular one once people get to know about it!! Stayed on the site August BH weekend - and could not believe how peaceful it was. The views are amazing across the valley to the hills. The sheep in the field in front of the site were great to watch - so comical. The site is really well positioned for walks and cycling from - with a path running down to the river next to the site and the quiet lane at the back of the site. Settle is just over a mile walking along the riverside path and a 1 1/2 miles via the road. The site is along a minor road with passing places - best to approach from Giggleswick as this means only about 3/4 mile of road with passing places. The entrance to the site is wide. The hardstanding on the pitches is quite narrow - the owners have said they are thinking of widening them - flatness better if park at the back of the pitch as they slope slightly towards the front. The pitches are well spaced out from each other and all have a water tap and an EHU on a pre-payment meter which was easy to operate via a smartphone. The owners were really responsive in their communication prior to arriving and really lovely in person too when we arrived - they live in the farmhouse just over the road. Would we go back? Definitely!! We can't wait to have another stay at this little gem of a site and wish the owners well with their new venture.

Lovely, peaceful site surrounded by beautiful countryside

My friend and I (plus Bella the Cockapoo) have just returned home from a lovely weekend stay at the Stackhouse Lane site in Giggleswick Yorkshire. Amenities on site if required including electric hook up, water and hard standing pitches surrounded by plenty of grass and space so you’re not on top of each other. A quiet location with just 5 pitches overlooking fields with the River Ribble just a stones throw away - it was lovely to listen to whilst sat out enjoying our BBQ on the Saturday evening. There are so many great walks direct from the site along the river and across fields including two waterfalls and Settle market town is within easy walking distance too. Janet (site owner) gave us some great tips for walks including for later in the year when the Salmon travel upstream. Catrigg Force waterfall was absolutely stunning and closer to the site is Stainforth force. Even though the weather was very mixed it didn’t ruin our experience as so many lovely places to walk and visit and we have already booked to return in a few weeks. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a nice quiet site with lovely surroundings, scenery and walks…..and a few lovely local watering holes too.
