We've just had yet another wonderful few days at Springlee and, having holidayed there for a number of years, we just can't recommend this site highly enough.
It is so peaceful there , the views are wonderful (the Eildon hills, Smailholm Tower, rolling countryside, sheep munching away in adjacent fields).
There are many local and further-afield attractions (it's just a mile or two from the A68) and we just love the early morning and evening sunshine (ok, you may not see that every day).
The site is always well maintained (I wish I could keep our hedges as neat!) and, on top of all the above, Pam, the owner is so welcoming, friendly and helpful.
Another reviewer mentioned some traffic noise - there is but, in our experience, it is short-lived and never detracts from our enjoyment. You just can't go wrong at Springlee - give it a try.
What a Gem of a CL. Mrs Spink (Pam) who runs this CL on a working farm makes you feel like a friend not a 'camper'. It is situated in the country less than 4 mls off the A68 and the scenery is brill, rolling countryside that you can see for miles, but handy enough for touring all the local towns like Melrose, Jedburgh, Galashiels, Selkirk and also being just a hour1/4 from E/burgh it couldn't be handier, or if you just wanted to 'chill'out the site is great for that too.
This is great CL and the very friendly welcome & interest Mrs Spink shows to all her guests is very genuine. We have no hesitation in recommending this site to everyone and will return again.
Thank you for all your help during our stay, it is greatly appreciated.

Lovely peaceful site with magnificent views. Warm welcome from owner with lots of advice on walks etc. We had to extend our stay due a brake problem on the caravan, Pam was very understanding and her husband most helpful in resolving the problem. The extended stay to be honest was a blessing in as much that it gave us the opportunity to explore the border area more thoroughly. Highly recommended.
We had a warm welcome and were provided with walking ideas, which was really helpful.
The site is well-maintained , with good quality water, waste water and chemical disposal facilities.
We had a problem on the morning we were leaving, having had heavy rain the evening before, but were really pleased and relieved to be quickly 'rescued' and towed off our grass pitch.
The views are beautiful and the surrounding area is lovely - plenty to see and do.
A highly recommended site with super-friendly owners.
Springlee is easy to find off the main road and there are plenty of great walks that can be done from the site. The owner, Pam, was really helpful and loaned us some walking guide books of the area during our stay. This is a great base to explore the Borders region with plenty to see (we have stayed in this area before). There is some road noise but mostly during the day but this doesn't detract from this lovely site.
Idyllic location with extensive views from Smailholme Tower to the Eildon Hills. Friendly welcome to beautifully maintained site and Pam supplied us with local information and booklets. Although site is sloping we had no problems levelling on a grass pitch. As previously noted, plenty to do in the local area without needing to move the van with quiet roads for cycling and a myriad of footpaths around Melrose. Good 3/4G signal so accessing walking and cycling information for both Melrose and Kelso is possible if not viewed before arrival (walkmelrose.org.uk & scotborders.gov.uk).
Booked for 9 nights over the Easter period. Arrived nearly midnight Thursday evening but directions were clear enough not to get lost in the dark. Woke up to find the site has wonderful views, very peaceful and well kept. We pitched at no.1 which was the bottom of the field which was nearly level so had no problems setting up. Pam came along later to see if we had settled in OK and presented us with a bag full of walking books so that was a real bonus for us, as this is why we chose the area (we walked our legs off everyday) walks can be made from the campsite. Pam is very welcoming and leaves you to get on with it with no rules etc. When booking we were surprised it wasn't full (so was Pam !) but the odd campervan came and went over the period we were there, plenty of space and pitches are positioned so you are not on top of one another. The road is at the top of the site but is mainly very quiet through the day, only a few cars on a morning presumably going to work. As this site is in a valley we didn't notice any particular wind as the previous reviewer mentioned. This was our first time in this area and will definitley be returning to the area and this campsite, I am always hesitant putting good reviews as it makes it harder for us to book later, but would thoroughly recommend this site if you like peace and views.
