I recently stayed here at South Port 'o Spittal, with my Husband a 2 dogs. What a beautiful site. The views from the site are quite breathtaking, and the place has a lovely quiet feel to it. The site itself is very well maintained and tidy.... the grass was beautifully cut and was cut several times during our stay. There is no extra charge for the toilet and shower facilities which are clean and tidy. I had absolutely no problem using theses facilities, toilet stalls were well stocked and lovely hand wash also available. There is a Laundry and Information Room too. The cost of the washing facilities are, I think, very reasonable, £2 per wash and £2 per 60mins drying.. just leave you money in the honesty box. For a small site the facilities are outstanding, and have recently been upgraded..I don't know of many Certificated sites that have as good facilities. There's lots to do in the area, and we found different things to do each day.. Well worth a visit is Corsewell Lighthouse.. the afternoon cream tea was brilliant. Loads of fabulous beaches too for walking the dogs. Marburry SmokeHouse just beyond Newton Stewart is well worth a visit too. All in all we had a wonderful 10 days here.. the weather was wonderful and both John & Ian Beck made us very welcome. If I could I'd mark this site with 6 Stars.... We will definitely be back to this hidden gem. £12 per night is an absolute bargain.
