Just got back from 3nights on this lovely cl . The grass pitch has lovely views of a field with horses and beyond. Field is small so short distance to Elsan and recycling.we went to Claydon a national trust about 20 miles away and walked along the canal another day. Olney is a lovely town with nice pubs and restaurants. Despite the weather we had a fab time. We will be back and would recommend this cl
This was the first CL we had visited, on arrival (end of April 2023) there was nobody to explain the facilities on site. For people who use CLs regularly I am sure this is not a problem. Fortunately there was another caravaner already at site who explained he just emptied his grey water by the fence. The toilet emptying facility is a hinged manhole type drain cover with a string handle.
It would be easy I think to add some basic instructions to the booking confirmation that is sent out, this would help people like us that are new to CL sites.
This site is not particularly level and there are some quite large dips that hold water if it rains.
On a positive, the location is nice, paddocks behind you with horses gazing.
I have stayed quite a few times over the last few years and it is a perfect CL to relax and chill out at.Derek is very welcoming and helpful. The site is very clean and tidy and I always enjoy my stay there.I always go back there when im in the area.
Well the previous reviewer said it all and we can confirm it!
Since discovering this lovely site it is the one we immediately go for when we’re in the area.
It is very well maintained, far away enough from the road to be peaceful with secure access and surrounded by fields and paddocks. The site is well located for visiting places of interest in the area.
The owners are so welcoming and friendly the kind of people that make you smile when thinking of them.
This little place is an absolute gem!
We only booked the day before arrival and managed to reserve the last remaining pitch.........and we were so pleased we did!
From the initial telephone call to arrival on Site and Meeting the Owners, everything was so relaxing and straightforward. The directions given by the owner very good and easy to follow.
Olney, which is a lovely little town, is situated just 1.5 Miles and has some lovely artisan shops and numerous Cafes and Coffee Shops. Emberton Park is 2 Miles away and ideal for picnics, fishing and family days out.
Other attractions within just a few miles include Salcey Forest, Castle Ashby, Stevington Windmill and Piddington Roman Villa Museum to name but a few.
It was so nice to just relax with the sounds of the countryside around.
The SIte is kept in excellent condition and a lot of hard work has obviously been put in to make it what it is. Fresh Water is available from two points, Rubbish and Recycling Bins are in a tidy Bin Store, along with the Chemical Disposal Point.
The Pitches are clearly marked and spacious.
We have just one regret with Smith's Farm............................We didn't find it sooner!!!!
There is no doubt that we will return very soon.
We stayed at Smith's Farm in April whilst visiting family. Daffodils lined the road up to the site enhancing the clean and tidy Farm. Derek was extremely welcoming and the views across the countryside were amazing. Grass is in perfect order. I agree with all the positive comments and would certainly come back again.
This is the first time I have been to Olney. Attractive town with interesting shops, cafes and ironmongers.
Another weekend on this peaceful well kept site which is located 1-3/4miles outside of Olney. Nothing has chnaged since my last review of this in 2020. It is still very well maintained and it is a pleasure to stay here on a fine dry weekend.
From 2020:
We had another enjoyable long weekend on this lovely site and were once again made very welcome by the owner Derek and his family. This is a well maintained, quiet site located in the countryside 1 mile from the interesting town of Olney where there are all services available. The River Great Ouse flows on the outskirts of the town next to which is the Emberton Country Park, a popular area for picnicking, fishing and walking. The five grass pitches are well marked and are in a fenced paddock overlooking rolling countryside. Water is available on both sides of the paddock making it easy to refill motorhome tanks with a hose. The chemical disposal and rubbish recycling point located conveniently just at the entrance to the paddock and again a motorhome waste tank could easily be emptied here using a hose. Stagecoach’s number 41 bus route, Bedford to Northampton via Olney, runs hourly past the site but there is no nearby dedicated bus stop and it was not established, if as a country bus, whether this could be flagged down. Good easy walking is available a short distance away via the side road leading to the Olney Park Farm Estate. This takes you into rolling arable farmland with fine views and woodland.
We’ve just enjoyed our first (likely of many) overnight stays here before moving on to Santa Pod.
It’s a great spot, with excellent security, beautifully maintained pitches and a really quiet and relaxed atmosphere.
The owners couldn’t have been more welcoming or helpful. Highly recommended.
We arrived during the early evening to find a beautiful sunny location with meadow views and horses grazing. Having been given excellent information, by the owners, prior to our arrival, we knew how to find the site and what to expect when we arrived. We were made to feel very welcome and very much enjoyed our stay, albeit only 2 nights on this occasion. The pitches are well spaced, reasonably level and the entire site very well maintained. Well worth a visit and lots to see and so in the area.
Been members for 2 years and this is our first CL site, Wonderful! Everything my wife and I wanted, I was working locally in Bedford and also visited a relation in Deanshanger (about 30 mins away. Lovely owners and well kept site within easy reach of a lovely town Olney. If this is the Cl standard we'll be searching for a lot more in the future.
Thank you the Smiths!! we'll be back!
