Stayed here during the late May bank holiday weekend 2021. Nice location and great value for money. We shall be back next time we are in the area .👍
Stayed twice thirty years apart!
We stayed on this site 30 years ago to the day when we moved from Ilkley to Darlington. We stayed again recently to visit family in Darlington!
Friendly welcome on both occasions. It is very inexpensive, but you do have to feed a meter for the electricity. It was ideally placed for our needs.
3 miles from home
Stayed on this site as it was close to home as whear getting a lot of building work done to oure house engoyd the stay ther bit of background noise of the A66 but not enughf to bother us and is quiet juring the night only problem is the water runs very slowly but can be other stuff whiy it fills ya aqwer roal and the £1 coine fed electricity meater taces about £3 a night but we did have the heating on a lot all in all stilll not a bad price if it wasent so close to home we wold use it agane
Donald & Sheila touring in A Class motorhome Great Site Smith House Farm
Our Motor Home is a 40 foot long American A Class and needs a hard standing site with excellent access with no low bridges and trees, Smith House Farm CL site is excellent for our type of vehicle. There a direct access into the farm off the A66 (Sandy Leas Lane) the farmer opens the gates when they know your booked and coming. We love this farm site as it’s real country with wonderful views over the fields and watching the cows & cafts from our front window. The electric hook up is through a £1 coin meter and we have a fresh water tap and sewer point nearby. The farm is kept clean and tidy and the grass camping area is kept cut and very tidy. This is our secon year here and we stay for 4 weeks at a time, there is plenty to do nearby and the Sutton Arms provides wonderful meals in the village of Elton, this is a great place to stay. We stayed in June £8 a night great value our electric worked out at £3 a night. We recommend this wonderful site.
Convenient for Stockton
With Whitewater being closed for refurb we have been struggling for other options when visiting family. This CL does admirably. This was a very pleasant place to be in the glorious weather. Easy to find from the A66, turn right just after the church in Elton. We pitched on dry, sloping grass and needed levelling blocks and extra bricks at the front. Water and hookup within easy reach, we put £1 in the meter and this lasted all weekend. Simple, basic and did us proud.
A pleaseant CL
This is a very pleasant but basic CL, just off the A66 and about ten minutes from Stockton. Access is good and it is easy to find. You can choose where and how you pitch, the only limitation might be the length of your hook up cable! The ground was good when I visited, but this was during a lengthy dry period. You may well need leveling blocks. The CL is £7 per night, not £6 as quoted. Please note that electricity is extra; the hook up points are metered. If you're lucky there will be some left on the meter and you will get a night or two paid for by the previous occupant! There meters take £1 coins. I received a warm and friendly welcome and was shown where the taps, elsan point etc are. There is a toilet but it was pretty dirty, I decided to use my own facilities in the 'van. Road noise may be an issue for some, the A66 runs very close by. It's a working farm so expect the associated smells and sounds. Nearby Coatham Woods are lovely for dog walking. There is a pub about ten minutes' walk from the site, just turn right at the end of the farm road. I didn't go to the pub but the car park was very busy on Sunday when we walked past.
