We have just returned from 2 nights at sleepy hollow with good friends, although the pitches are slightly sloping dont let this stop you from visiting a tidy well maintained and very peaceful site.Do not use your Sat nav to find it follow the directions that Kate will send you when you book. and you will have a wonderful peacefull and relaxing stay.
We were sent a very useful directions and info pack by the owners prior to arrival. Getting to the site is not straight forward. Access onto the site is a bit bumpy and tight. The owners were so helpful.
The EHU side of the site is slopped. Caravans near us were precariously balance on wooden beams.
There were problems with the WIFI but the owners couldn't do enough to help with this as there was no TV reception. However, we have upgraded our aerial since then.
The toilet block is charming. We washed up there just for the fun of it. Lots of thought, care and attention to detail has gone into its design. The ramp to the chemical disposal point was fantastic. Bit like being in a tree house! Trees circle the site so no direct views but you don't need to travel very far for views. From the site there is lots to do if you cycle or walk. Lovely village pubs a short cycle away.
Just had a relaxing stay at Sleepy Hollows Farm. We were made very welcome by Kate, Randall and the girls . They all made us very welcome (including Arthur their dog!) and nothing was too much trouble. It is an ideal base for many locations in Derbyshire. Carsington Water is right on their door step, handy for walking or cycling. The toilet and shower facilities were 'quirky' and always clean.
We will certainly be returning to this lovely site and location.
Many thanks to you all
We spent two nights here in early September. Owners friendly and welcoming. Very pleasant site; grass mown and clippings removed. Slightly sloping, so we did need to use levelling ramps, but no problem. Shower and toilet facility is simple, but very good. Outdoor washing up facility also handy. We were the only ones on site at the time, so had facilities to ourselves. Hand sanitizer available. Excellent cycling and walking from the site, but beware of returning on foot or cycle via the main road from Carsington Reservoir as this is very busy (and no pavement). No EHU at present, but generators available and EHU to be introduced. Peaceful spot and sheltered all around with trees. Would recommend.
A little difficult to find but once there were very satisfied with pitch, toilets and shower block. Randall and Kate were very welcoming and had time to chat.
Carsington water very close (1/2mile) ideal for cycling but the road to Carsington trail was rather busy with traffic.
The site was cut lovely but wedges were needed for levelling of Motorhome.
All toilet, shower, water point and disposal were at lower end of field and I would agree with its name of’ Sleepy Hollow’
Very pleasing........
This site is lovely, it did help that we and our friends in a separate campervan were the only campers onsite!
Facilities are basic but clean and tidy, one toilet cabin, one shower cabin. Be aware, no electricity but we knew before we went.
The owners are friendly and very helpful, happy to give advise on the local area, and onsite if any issues arise.
If you want peace and quiet, this is the site for you, we will go again and would recommend.
