We absolutely loved this spot and were luck enough to get a last minute spot for two nights
This lovely soft grassy field is right next to the farm right back from the road up a Tarmac drive. Mrs Elliot was out when we arrived but we helped ourselves. she was very nice and chilled. The weather was scorching and the scenery beautiful. The farm is a busy working farm which we liked to see. We walked into Eyam, about a mile, there is a narrow footpath along the not too busy road and walked back over the fields on the footpath to Foolam. We visited the National Trust house in Eylam and there is also a museum. We had a great lunch in the tea shop/bakery near the pub, really natural delicious food and plenty. Some lovely campers in a caravan on our site offered to take our shopping back in their cool box and car which was brilliant as it was about 28 degrees C which is melting point for carrot cake icing!
I can see that in wet weather this site would be a disaster for a motorhome. We had one of only two spots just inside the gate which were sort of llevel, we still needed the wooden chocs provided as well as our own! I can also see what the other reviewer meant regarding leaving time as the caravan next to us left at about 8pm!
We would definitely return but only if dry weather or a spot just inside the gate was guaranteed.
