Nice site, shame about the area
I had never previously visited the Dewsbury area but wanted to go to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and this site was very well located for that purpose. I initially had difficulty locating the site because it is hidden from view by high walls. The best way to describe how to find it is drive into the car park of the Leggers Arms pub, we drove past it on the first attempt. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the pub has character and serves very simple meals, e.g. Chilli with chips or rice (also a vegetarian option) and excellent real ale. The campsite toilets are a portacabin and are unisex but are kept very clean. There is a shower for general use at all he marina office/pub building. Ideal for regular CL users who tend to use their own facilities. It's very handy for Asda, B&Q and any number of other retail outlets because it is in the centre of a very industrial area mixed with lots of retailers. Sadly the area lets it down and nothing can be done about that. We intended to stay for 3 nights but after the first night of listening to motorcycles being driven at speed around the neighbouring streets we decided to move on. Maybe we are just a bit too faint hearted, there were 3 other caravans on site and their occupants seemed to be perfectly happy. I hate to be negative but would I return? Unlikely.
