Amazing views, lovely people!

This is a lovely CL site with the most amazing views over the family smallholding and the surrounding countryside. We awoke every morning to see the ducks and geese being let out and Netty tending her veggie plots. The electric is metered, but we had more than enough per day for everything we needed and didn't go over at all. The waste facilities are clean and well located, and there is a little honesty shop to buy eggs and salad fresh from the garden. There may even be bread, once this is up and running. The person along the road also sells lovely asparagus! We put up a bird feeder and loved seeing the woodpecker, nuthatches, tits and finches every day - great entertainment. Also heard the cuckoo and owl, saw skylarks, red kites, buzzzards and a sparrowhawk. The local pub, the Royal Arms, does a great Sunday roast and other meals, and a little further away The Yew Tree Inn community pub does an impressive range of ciders and holds quiz nights with a free buffet for £2, burger nights, pie nights, pizza nights etc and were very welcoming. There is so much to see and do - some of our favourites:- Hereford Cathedral, The Waterworks Museum which was fascinating, especially as we went on a Steam Day. The Brecon Beacons - we can recommend a trip on the Brecon Mountain Railway. The Big Pit mining museum was excellent and free, CADW Blaenavon Ironworks was great, and Llanthony Priory was so beautiful and peaceful. The 3 Castles - Penfrith, White and Grosmont Castles. Also Monmouth (make sure you visit the Courthouse and Cells) and lovely Abergavenny. NT Croome Park is a beautiful building with a fascinating history but you almost need another day to do justice to RAF Defford which was so interesting. NT Weir Garden is lovely - take a picnic. Eastnor Castle is a bit further afield but had a great Steam and Vintage Vehicle event. And make sure you visit some of the pretty local churches - Garway Templar Church, Kilpeck church. We stayed at Rock Point for 3 weeks and enjoyed every minute. There is a picnic table and plans are afoot to provide more facilities, which will be great (especially WiFi!!). Thank you, Ben and Netty, for a wonderful stay!
