Stunning views

We have just spent 4 nights here and had an enjoyable stay. We were on pitch 2 which is quite short just fit our 7m van on with car parked at side but may have struggled with awning too. Each pitch is separated by a rockery and mound so you don't feel close to next pitch. The trees do overhang slightly but fortunately we had not much rain. Trees could maybe do with a trim and maybe cut greenery back a bit to get van further back. We use our own facilities but toilet is a typical farm building but doesn't bother me as I grew up on a farm. Overall would definitely return the location is great 20min walk into town with lots of great pubs and restaurants. If you have an 8mt 8ft wide van maybe ask for pitch 1 or 5.

Do not be put off by some of the dramatic reviews

This is a CL on a working livery in the heart of Staffordshire, so it is a wet place and mud is a by product of the rain! However as long as you have a reasonable sized, self contained unit you will be rewarded by the most dramatic views and a helpful owner. If you are lucky, the sun will shine and you'll also see the sun set behind the Roaches opposite your pitch. It is fairly priced, has ehu, booking is simple, arrival is uncomplicated and Leek town a short cycle away.

Do not stay here!

Awful site. CAMC should visit this site and insist on urgent maintenance and upgrading. Pitches are described as hard standing but all 5 are covered in inches of mud, grass and moss. We pointed this out to the owner and he said "Its hard standing under the mud" ! The track into the pitches has very deep pot holes. The toilets are completely un-usable. Dirty, mouldy and a hazard to health. The pitches are very small and if you have a caravan you can't park your car beside your caravan. We booked the largest pitch for our 8.1 metre motorhome several weeks in advance and we had to use the non "Hard standing" area behind the pitch so that we weren't jutting onto the lane. Just after parking another motorhome arrived and said that he had also been allocated the same pitch as he was 8 metres long. He looked around the site and the toilets and said there was no way he was staying there and he drove off. If we hadn't been with our daughter and grandchildren in their caravan we would have left too. This site could be lovely but it needs urgent works to bring the pitches, the road and the toilets up to an acceptable standard.

Escape to the countryside

A CL site within a short walking distance from the town of Leek, on the border of the Peak District and near to a much loved beauty spot, Tittersworth Reservoir. Booking via email and then phone call to secure our pitch. Friendly site owner. Arrived at designated pitch 2 but it was too small in length, as were pitch 3&4! Nearest pitch 1 to amenities was awaiting new arrival. Pitch 5 was big enough for a 7 metre unit but the electrics needed an extension! Owner arrived later to sort this known extension issue. Great walk to The Lazy Trout, up to The Reform, into Leek town and across the road to The Moss Rose! Would recommend 3 out of the four! Revisiting next month and hoping the weather is good to us, so we can walk further a field! Excellent scenic view across the fields from the pitch and if you are lucky, an excellent sunrise! Pitch 1 has a good view of the Roaches and next to the fresh water tap. Pitch 5, nearest the entrance. There is not a drive over waste disposal for a motorhome but a curb side grid. You will need a waste pipe to reach it! There is a toilet waste site which grey waste can go down. WC are very basic, functional and toilet paper supplied but take your own soap as neither male/female sinks had any! Not sure on hand drying facilities as not used! Working equine facilities used daily, so horses in field. Regular exercise with riders along the entrance road. (A slight problem with flies!).

Could be so good!

Positives Lovely views up to the peaks. Close to Leek, 15 mins steady stroll, nice market town, good for food a drinks Good access locally to the Roaches and Peak District. Friendly booking and welcome. Opportunities. Hard standing could do with re-stoning. Thin layers of soli firm on top. Some Pitches are a little short in length, you may have to pitch transverse across. Toilets need renovation, would not recommend you use them. On some pitches you will need length electric cable, only two electric stations for 5 pitches. One water point, ok for aqua roll users, inboard Motorhome tanks make take some awkward parking prior to pitching Overall for £15 a night you can get far better facilities else where.

Comfortable working farm

Nice location 15 mins walk from Leek which is worth a visit. A working farm with lots of horse activity. Lovely views of hills beyond horses in fields. Excellent Italian restaurant "Sera Bistro" opposite entrance to site and booking advised. The Toilets were probably the worst I have come across - the showers were padlocked shut and even if not I would not have used them here. Our pitch was the nearest to the WCs and I didn't notice anyone else using these facilities during our 2 night stay. Overall we enjoyed a comfortable stay. Don't be put off by the WCs.

Noisy at 5am

Booked this site for 2 nights mid week, difficult to get the caravan in as narrow pitches, got woken up both mornings at 5 am by cars from using the equestrian centre which is yards away from the site. People from the equestrian centre talking and chatting loudly at 5am no consideration for the caravanserais on site. The toilets are filthy and unusable were not clean at all and used by the horse centre as well. Would not recommend this site at all awfull 2night stay

Leek visit

We have a 7 metre motor home and the pitches 2,3 and 4 are small and awkward to park. The caravan next door had to have part of thr car sticking out on the road! Access to fresh water tap requires a long hose which is also the case for electric hook up. Toilets could do with a good clean. Views from site are lovely as is the surrounding countryside.

Very Handy

Not surprised to find this CL full at the week-end. It’s very handy for walking into Leek from and not far from Waitrose. Handy for a walk around Tittesworth Reservoir or many cycling routes and good hard standings for a motorhome.

Beautiful!

Familiar with Leek and the surrounding area I knew what to expect before we arrived, but was still really delighted with the views! This little site is lovely, admittedly the loos do need a bit of a revamp, but the views more than make up for it. Just be aware that pitch 3 is little distance from the hookup so you need an extension cable. on the whole lovely !
