Like camping next to a building site...

Building noise from the land opposite went on till nearly 10 at night - a JCB digging plus continuous vehicle reversing noises. Happened two days running - we almost packed up and left early. Thankfully it didn't continue on our final two days. The owner knew this was going on - we brought it up when we left but she seemed unwilling to try and do anything about it e.g. report as a noise nuisance to local council. The field itself is well-maintained but has an enormous pylon in one corner. We weren't offered access to the gardens or nursery as mentioned in other reviews. They were closed throughout our visit. Site is convenient for visiting York, Castle Howard etc but we would try and find a more peaceful location if we come to this area again. Found the list of rules that were emailed and the fact that electricity use is restricted to 10 units a day a little off-putting (although we used only a fraction of that amount during our stay, it's not something you really want to have to be thinking about. Also the departure time - other CLs we've stayed on have been much more relaxed about this. They clearly wanted us out by 11 on the dot and were literally mowing the grass around us.

Comment from the CL Owner

I’m sorry you were unhappy with so many elements of your visit and have hopefully addressed them below.
The one off work across the road was on an adjoining farm at their fishing ponds and at their busy time of year was unfortunate to run into the evening and coincide with this visitors arrival. Although our house is near the CL we knew nothing about it until informed when the guests were leaving.

One off farm work in daylight doesn’t justify reporting to the council as a noise nuisance. The pylon is not on our property and the Garden and Nursery opening times are well publicised, and the Nursery was open on the last two days of the visit. We always offer late leaving when possible but we weren’t asked on this occasion and as we were full for the bank holiday we needed to cut the grass before their arrival, but this wasn’t around the occupied pitches. Electric allowance is clearly stated on the Club website so was not a surprise on arrival.
