Quiet site close to Chesterfield and the Peak District

A really quiet site with good facilities. Sheltered from the wind. All hardstanding and good disposal points. Would have liked to have walked from the site but the week was very wet. Will visit again in the summer.

A site to relax on and return to...

A great site for walking from (when Derbyshire has a dry day!) and for visiting Chesterfield and the surrounding area. A well-kept site with an additional 3 pitches screened off by a tall hedge which may be used under the 28-day rule ... ideal if the CL itself already has five on it. All kept nicely with generous pitches. A site not too far from home that we'll be using again ... and again.

Peace & Quiet

A very nice CL with lovely views over the fields, and a great place to walk the dog down to the 3 reservoirs. The toilet cabin was kept clean, and the site was generally kept neat and tidy. A very useful "tourist information" cabin gave us lots of ideas of what to do, and what times the local buses were due. Thank you.

excellent

We visited this cl for Easter for one week. There was still lots of snow on the site but the owner had made sure the pitches were cleared for our arrival.Ideal for visiting lots of places of interest. The scenery and walks were beautiful. The owner was very friendly and helpful. This cl is ideal for total relaxation. John and Jan James

Hidden gem

Just spent a very cold and wintry March weekend at this lovely cl. Although the weather left a lot to be desired, the site more than made up for its tranquility and its beauty. Lovely walks around the nearby reservoirs directly from the site. Friendly owner and well kept pitches with lots of space between. Only down side was the electrical low amps as it kept tripping with very little running. However, will certainly be returning.

Great CL

Stayed here for 3 nights in mid February. Paid £11 a night. The owner explained when we booked that this was because of the extra electricity used during winter, which was only to be expected considering the freezing conditions we had while we were there. There is 1 toilet in a cabin with a sink and cold water tap which were kept clean. Good walking through the fields to the many paths around the nearby reservoirs. Views across the contryside from some pitches. Snowed heavily while we were there which made everything look stunning. The owner kept the drinking water tap and chemical disposal flush from freezing by insulating them with what looked like old horse blankets wrapped in grounsheets so we were never without fresh water. We had difficulty getting up the driveway's slight incline out of the site with our motorhome but fortunately the owner helped us with snow shovels and rock salt! Will definately be back, hopefully in better weather!

Relaxing

Just returned from our second stay at this lovely well kept CL site. Lovely setting with hardstandings and EHU and plenty of grass between pitches giving a lot of privacy. Lots of local walks - you can walk directly over the owners land using the footpaths to get to Linacre reservoirs where there are numerous paths around the 3 reservoirs offering lots of walking options. Great for dog walking as there are no cattle or sheep in the fields around the site. There is a toilet in a shed type building, drinking water tap and waste and chemical disposal. There are also bins for recycling which are regularly emptied. The site is well placed for visiting Chesterfield in one direction and Chatsworth is not very far in the other direction. A very peacful and relaxing site - one which we will return to many times. Excellent value for money at £10 per night with electric.
