Popham is a lovely CL which we have used several times and as we are only a short distance away is set to become our favourite go to CL when we want a weekend away. The site is reasonably level with only a slight slope towards the trees which is easily coped with. The pitches are grass but when we have stayed it has always been well drained and we've not had any problems with towing on or off.
It is a very active airfield for light aircraft and Gyrocopters with occassional visiting Helicopters so if you enjoy watching planes this is definitely a site to visit. The airfield closes at night so there isn't any noise issues for sleeping (but note that as the site is an airfield there will be light aircraft noise during active hours). There is an onsite cafe which provides food and drink if you fancy a cooked breakfast which is excellent. The directions on arrival are clear and easy to follow and all the staff we met were very friendly and helpful and check in was a breeze.
The airfield is alongside the A303 (but the pitches are as far away from the road as possible) and so has excellent links for visiting the area and there are services on the A303 (both sides) if you need to get any supplies (a vehicle is required in order to get to them, walking to them is not possible).
As per the listing there is no EHU (which we're quite happy with) - but water etc are clearly indicated and easy to find and the pitches are clearly marked.
We would definitely recommend this CL and are looking forward to our next visit.
Best ever CL
A warm welcome awaits when arriving at this site. It's a very laid back and easy going site with much action during the day from light aircraft movements and some expert model aircraft users in their own field located nearby, (registered users only). Having said this, it is not noisy by any means and can keep you interested in the activities all day. Aviation geeks will love this CL.
Dog walkers are really made up here with acres of open land and a wooded area adjacent.
The airfield cafe offers great food and drinks and CL users are offered a 10% discount.
Popham is very well situated with the M3 and A303 nearby, however no noise is heard from the roads. The A303 has an M&S and Starbucks service area westbound while the eastbound service area has a Greggs and Starbucks. Both of these are just a 5 minute car drive.
Can't recommend this site enough, we shall be returning very soon.
Brilliant Bolt hole for us!
We love this site as its so close to us, and its a quick journey up the 303. Lovely grounds, loads to watch, aircraft landing and taking off, model aircraft as well. Great cafe with delicious breakfast or just a hot drink and good outdoor seating space. Its a route centre for Andover, London Basingstoke, Winchester, Newbury with easy access BUT the noise is minimal due to layout of site. Mike is easy to deal with and really hope this doesn't change.
A lovely CL
I really wish I could keep this CL to myself.
It's fantastic, from the welcome, to the constant changing views, a great café and lovely walks.
Close to home for us, but definitely a favourite.
Excellant Site
We have just returned from a lovely two nights at Popham. Friendly owners and very helpful. Even though this site is alongside the A303 the traffic noise is minimum due to the positioning of the camping area. Plenty of entertainment watching the small planes and Gyrocopters land and take off. Next to the camping is an area used by model aircraft enthusiasts, they had some excellent models and were ace at flying them. Lovely cafe on site with very reasonable prices, we sat in the sun with our morning coffee next to the airstrip. Good walks for the dogs in adjacent woods and around the fields. This site is excellent value for money and extremely well kept.

Excellent CL
We really enjoyed our 1 night here, we were booked in for 2 but the weather was due to be terrible.
Huge grassy space, toilets were accessible at any time, lovely cafe on the Airfield. And of course planes! We were hoping to grab a short flight and we will be back to do that at some point.
Mike is a lovely host / Airfield Manager, even gave us a tour of the hangars.
Highly recommended.

A unique and lovely CL with a very warm welcome.
We stent one night here whilst travelling from Norfolk to Dorset but wished we had stayed longer. The CL is enormous and everything is new and thoughtfully laid out. Check in is at the airport control desk and Mike couldn't be more helpful or welcoming. The 1st light aircraft started moving around a little after 8;00 by which time we both had our heads out trying to spot them and take in the free entertainment... to be honest I'd pay the site fee just to watch the light aircraft for a couple of hours. Our only regret is not spending a 2nd night to give us time to enjoy the site more and explore locally.
What a joy to find such a great CL
We are actually on this CL at the moment and we are really impressed with it. It's a great price for a new CL, with a very friendly welcome, new facilities and the ability to watch light aircraft taking off and landing, as well as drones and model aircraft to watch in the field next to it. With good dog walking in the woods behind the CL and fairly close to Winchester, we would highly recommend it.
Spacious; welcoming and interesting site
We were pleased to be amongst the first to use this new CL. This is a popular private Airfield. A very interesting place. We checked in at the airfield's "flight control" desk in the office and were given a very useful welcome sheet which gave info on nearby facilities and a few useful rules. The pitches were large; virtually level and positioned well away from the runway, although with good visibility of the planes (only flying between 0800 - 2000). Mike, the manager popped over to check how we were. There is food available on site, and plenty of space to walk dogs. A really enjoyable stay. We will use it again.
