Summer Visit to Aberdeenshire

Handy site easy to find off the A 90. Our visit was during August with very few midges and brilliant weather. A grass field closed in on 2 sides with trees and hedges and a fenced off stream along the other with nice views beyond. Tv signal is good and the sites electrical inspection was being carried out while we were there. Locally there was a gem of a hotel called the Sauchieburn hotel (massive portions of home cooked food). The Fettercairn Distillery was worth a visit as was Dunottar Castle, just follow the southern coast road into Stonehaven for some beautiful views of the harbour. A little further afield we had National Trust Castles, Ballater highland games, towns and villages for food and fuel. The Coastal route heading north from the site is worth a trip we got as far as Crovie and Gardenstown visiting many hidden villages and fishing harbours. For a longer day out we got as far as Fort George Inverness and the Linn of Dee which was a few miles from Braemar. We will return to use this site again.
