What more could you ask for

We received clear instructions from Sean and Michelle via email, immediately after booking. So as instructed we text Sean 15 minutes prior to arrival so that he could open the gates for us. As we approached the site, Michelle was waiting for us and guided us in. A very warm welcome, with information leaflet. She guided us down to Sean who allocated our pitch and showed us around. The pitch was huge and immaculate. Electric just behind and water points around the site. During the course of the weekend, whenever we saw them, we found both Sean and Michelle very chatty, hospitable and friendly. The site was fantastic, very peaceful and relaxed. Nice dog walk too that we enjoyed, even though we didn’t have the dog with us. Lovely to see the pet animals on site too. We also saw a huge barn owl that hunts around the site area too and was out and about day and night. 30 minutes drive into Peterborough, which has a very nice town centre. Few minutes to walk into the local village and the river also is only a few minutes walk away. The pillbox at the entrance has been renovated inside and is a very interesting feature. If we lived more local, this site would definitely be a regular, so as you would guess….would we use again? Absolutely. Quite a distance for me to travel for a weekend so we will be planning a return journey, but for a few days next time. Well done Michelle and Sean. A beautiful site, a fantastic welcome, and a great relaxing retreat. What more can you ask for…..nothing I can think of. It’s a 10/10 for me, and a massive thank you for hosting us.

As good as it gets

We completely agree with the previous reviewer, this is an excellent CL with everything you need. It is an all year site, easy to get to, quite level and kept in first rate condition. The owners Sean & Michelle could not be more friendly, helpful and accommodating (their rescue dog is also very friendly - though I think it might actually be a black bear in disguise). The site clearly shows their experience of running other sites with the facilities, sectioned layout and three gates access through to the pitches allowing for extra privacy and security. They have and are clearly working very hard to make this site what it is and what it will further develop in to. We felt so safe and secure here we left our solar panels and kit on the pitch whilst exploring the county. We finish our nine nights stay here tomorrow and wish we had extra time to have stayed. This site is definitely on our favourites list and we look forward to returning next time we come to this area.

Everything a CL site should be

This site has been extremely well tended by the owners who are very friendly and helpful. The site is relatively new yet is one of the best we have been to. The ground is firm and even after all of the rain handled our front wheel drive 4500kg motorhome without problems. There are plenty of taps, Electrical hook up points and grey water disposals. Even the chemical disposal is in tip top condition. A small information hut is again a rarity for a CL site. Oh and a drive over grey waste if you need it. The electricity is metered at the moment but three nights with our pretty heavy use came in at just £9. We visited Benwick with its Sparshop and Ramsey, the later having plenty of eating places and a Tescos. This site is well beyond the quality of other CL sites we have stayed on costing more than £25 pn. If you visit this site you will not be disappointed; the pitches are very spacious with two dedicated hard standing dog enclosed pitches and one hard standing pitch. We had the delight of seeing the Pygmy goat, pigs, ducks and chickens. A huge number of Willow and Birch saplings have been planted and this site is sure to mature well. A lovely dog walk sits just behind the site which is very handy. Be sure to visit this site and support the obvious efforts the owners have gone to. Top marks to Sean and Michelle - we will see you soon.

Ease of arrival/welcome

Peaceful site in the Cambridgeshire countryside.

Sean and Michelle make you feel very welcome on their site. We called as we arrived in Benwick and the gate was opened to great us. Good sized pitches with water points and planting between the vans. Red kites in the sky and hares in the next field. Very peaceful location with rural views over fields with wind turbines turning in the distance. Information cabin on site with all the details you would need. We can recommend the fish and chips. The pigs, goats and chickens are very quiet and Michelle has given information on all of them. The Pillbox, from which the site is named, is in the process of being refurbished and has items from the period on display. Look forward to coming back soon.

Excellent site

Thank you Sean and Michelle for a lovely stay, we were welcomed by Michelle on arrival and Sean opening the access gates. We booked the dog friendly pitch which was really well laid out, our little dog managed to get through the fence a couple of times but didn't stray to far from pitch. There are hard standing and grass pitches, sufficient water taps which are levelled with slab and gravel. The development of the site includes new planting around pitches and elsan point with plans to add EHU in the future, general waste is accommodated in a large wheelie bin. The site is level, clean and quiet with an abundance of wildlife. We enjoyed our stay so much we have already booked for August. Sean and Michelle are the perfect hosts, once again thank you

Ease of arrival/welcome

A perfect weekend at Pillbox Meadow

We’ve just returned home from a lovely weekend at this new CL. On arrival, we received a really friendly welcome from both Sean and Michelle. The CL only opened in April and is still being improved. Currently, it is an off grid CL but electrics are going to be installed at some point. There is a choice of two hard standing gravel pitches or grass pitches and there is a fenced off pitch, ideal if you have dogs, so they can run loose in their area, although dogs need to be on leads outside that pitch, as on all CLs. There is a small information shed with ideas for days out as well as information about local shops/doctors/vets etc. Easy to fill up with water on arrival as there are 4 well spaced out taps around the site. There is a large bin for waste, very clean CPD and waste water disposal, including rinsing taps for each, and they have even included a motorhome waste water drain. The pillbox itself is also being renovated and is going to have a memorabilia display inside. Mobile reception is excellent. On EE, we had a download speed up to 40 Mbps. We will definitely return.
