A Great CL

We have just spent six nights at Pentwyn. A well managed CL with beautiful views of the Brecon mountains. Access roads are single track and quite narrow for about 2 miles to reach the site, so you need to be confident with your towing skills. One negative is that there is only one tap for the drinking water and no tap for the toilet disposal so you have to fill a bucket, not ideal.

Best campsite ever in wales

This site is a sloping hay meadow situated beneath Pen Y Fan with fantastic walking access to the northern side of the Brecon Beacons.  There are 360 degree panoramic views along the length of the Beacons and across to the lower ground around Brecon. You pitch up wherever you like. There is a tap, a chemical waste disposal and a bin. What else do you need? You can get a mobile signal and some caravans were able to get TV reception. There was so much space that everyone was well separated. The grass is long until mid July  to allow the meadow flowers to grow. Why you would look at a Tv when you have the grandeur of the mountain scenery is a mystery.....and most people did what we did which was to sit outside and watch the sun set and the lengthening shadows of the hills until the first stars appear. We did have good weather! The owners farm is half a mile away and he is very friendly and helpful. Unless you go to see him, he will leave you alone which is fine by us.  Downsides might be getting stuck after heavy rain; you would need to be a careful about which bit of the field you used. Some people don't like long grass. It is a 30 minute walk across a lovely footpath to the village pub. Quicker by bike but uphill coming back. For people who like walking, prefer lots of space around you and are not bothered that the site does not resemble someone's front garden but like the real outdoors - this site is perfect. It's a proper CL site and not a caravan park.

Fantastic Rural Escape

I stayed here in July 2015. The field hadn't been cut but this added to the "atmosphere". Fantastic views and walks in all directions, including direct access to the Brecon Beacons, and views of Crybben and Pen-Y-Fan. Showers and toilets are a 5 minute walk to the farm if you need them. No regimented pitches - park where you like!

For us just perfect

Beautiful location even in changeable weather. Delightful 30 min walk into Llanfrynach village. White Swan inn lovely pub with good food ( perhaps a little on the expensive side for a family)  Easy access to the beacons.  Fantastic starry sky, peace and quiet and very pleasant farmer, what mor could you want ?

Wonderful location

Stayed here for two nights, the 13th and 14 of April 2015. Beautiful scenery and great for access to the Beacons. We just had the sheep and lambs for company. So peaceful ! Will be back !

Beautiful Location

This is a beautiful remote location with stunning 360 degree views. You can be as isolated as you want to be as the CL field is large with a tap and waste tank. There is also a shower down on the farm (5-10 min walk).  Thomas the farmer is very friendly and helpful.  If you like a rural, farming environment surrounded by mountains, you will love it. We did!

Our second visit to Pentwyn in our motorhome, what a great CL this is. Basic but with great views and walks into Brecon or the beacons. So quiet and not too close to your neighbours. Thanks Thomas we will be back.
